Master 2021 Approvals and CLIs Thread (Post Yours!)

BoA seems impossible to get CLIs. I’ve had a card with them that was at $6k for 10+ years and then they decided to bump it to $17.3k out of the blue. In the past when I requested it was always denied, so I stopped. I have several cards in the $20-30K from respectable institutions yet they seemed to always hold out. -

Decided today to try getting a CLI to my Lowes card via website. Original limit was $8k and have had card at least one year. I regularly make purchases and had an existing balance of $2300. Request 1) $8 -> $20k; approved Request 2) $20k -> $25k; approved Request 3) $25 -> $30k; approved After requesting 3 times over 2 mins I decided to stop. I figured I have a $30k Home Depot card ($14k balance currently) so they could at least match that. Btw does anyone know if there are any ramifications from hitting it over and over?! My fico scores are around 780-800. -

So if I login into Amex and it says MSD 2000 on the website, but the card doesnt match (2014). Does this matter? I did have it changed without a problem immediately. -
I had a hard for $20k

Requested my first CLI ever on a card that is about 3 years old (15k) to 20k. This resulted in a hard. Just giving a heads up.

I have no issues making multiple payments with my gold card. My first statement has not cut yet, however I've PIF 3x so far.

I really think AMEX puts a lot of weight on income. Score from AMEX on gold approval was 610 (paper they sent). Income roughly $200k (140k stated on app) I had two 60 day lates 8-12 months ago(amazon card was lost; paperless statements and they blocked me out of account due to being lost; PITA to pay), private student loans not paid in 2 years (public always paid), high util, but ~8 years AAOA and never late on any cc. My starting "exposure" limit is $1800 (I asked).

Thanks for the responses. I plan to stop being lazy and just clear out all my cards (and pay off all my student loans). Instead I'll just run everything I need through my AMEX and I'm sure they wont have any issue with giving me whatever I need. My income stated was an extremely conservative because I am not sure if it really makes a difference in these credit card apps.

Incorrect. OPs score is marginal for even one approval let alone two consecutive from Amex. The near max balances reporting, and neg info were also compelling factors for the denied 2nd app which the AA letter may reference. I agree. I would rather just switch to the Platinum instead of Gold if possible though.. I wonder if an invite/referral from a good Amex Platinum user would help (friend of mine spends at least 50-100k per month). No, you and your friend are just numbers to Amex... don't expect any special treatment. I plan to do a lot of flying and the no fee currency exchange on top of flying benefits are nice.

So I decided I wanted an AMEX and applied via USAA and got the AMEX secured. I decided why not just try AMEX directly. I was approved for a Gold Premier card instantly with expedited card delivery (is this standard?). Few hours later I decided I wanted a Platinum AMEX so I try again but this time I'm denied and offered a AMEX Serve (prepaid lol). Although the annual fee is high, I plan to do quite a bit of flying and and was just about to pay for the TSA precheck and noticed they will cover it with the platinum card, which is why I want it (among all the other nice benefits). I only know my FAKO is around 620. I have several cards as it is with 80%+ utilization (I could pay off, but I don't...) ranging from 5k to 13k with ages around 5-10+ years each with 0 missed payments. However, half of my student loans are unpaid (I always pay my government ones but not the private because Wells Fargo pissed me off). Unfortunately, these private loans have destroyed my credit (was 720-740 before). I thought AMEX Platinum is just as easy to get as Gold with signup... is this not true? My income is $140k+. I did have an AMEX Blue card maybe 4 years ago that I closed (in good standing). I think it had a $10k limit. Also, is the Gold card an easy card to get? I was 99% sure I would be declined.
