  1. thanks for the clarification--we were debating the various explanations that we had heard. I was right I thought I understood it to be that you needed to sell your current residence by the April deadline and the 5 year biz was part of the qualifying criteria but then several people stated otherwise...........I was trying to explain that to a few people over the last week. A lot of people seem to be under the impression that this is a tax credit for simply owning the property x amount of time.......thanks a bunch!
  2. My hubby and I are reading this differently (suprise )- Can anyone help? Do you get the credit toward the purchase of a new home after the sale/pending of the home that you have lived in for 5 of the last 8 years OR is the credit for the existing home assuming you are not planning on moving/selling the home you have resided in the last 5 of 8 years? Prior to this article I was under the impression that the credit was to encourage current owners who were interested in selling to purchase new properties and receive a tax credit before the April deadline. from USATODAY Home buyer tax credit Eligibility extended to those who already owned a house This tax credit was originally intended for first-time home buyers, but that's no longer the case. Under legislation signed in November, two types of home buyers qualify for a tax credit on their 2009 returns: •Home buyers who haven't owned a primary residence for three years prior to the purchase are eligible for a tax credit of up to $8,000. This credit is available for home buyers who purchased a home from Jan. 1, 2009, to April 30, 2010. •Home buyers who have owned their primary residence for five consecutive years out of the last eight are eligible for a credit of up to $6,500. This credit is limited to homes purchased after Nov. 6 and on or before April 30, 2010.

  4. angel foods is great! my husband was a bit leery but it was pretty good and my son really enjoyed the fajitas-- we do not eat a lot of red meat but otherwise no complaints. Reasonable quality food at a fraction of the cost.
  5. what about this credit report repair that scrolls across the screen? We have child support misreporting (over $120,000 regularly and on-time payments made but reported as not!) and 4+ year old paid collections reporting errors that need to be corrected and I am not sure where to start. I am trying to devise my attack strategies because it pisses me off that you do what you are supposed to but still get raked over the coals. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
  6. Newbie Soooo--my best bet is to order by paper? or can I order one online and one via phone at the same time? how do I know if I am getting the FICO versus the Vantage? By the way, what is a vantage score and how is it any different? I have pulled our credit a few times over the last few years and assumed it was a FICO but now I am not sure. I am planning to pull/order my reports tonight. Thanks.
  7. I am new to participating so I have lots of questions -- how are you getting your credit info so often? I have been reading the various postings and can not tell which site would be the best avenue to start with for regular monitoring. There seems to be more negative experience than not. I am planning on pulling from the annualcredit report site later tonight and would like to start moving forward. Thanks.
  8. New Poster please work with me-- FYI -everyone paying child support is not a dirty lowlife shirking their responsibilities Quick and dirty So--husband pays $2000 in court determined $$ for child support each month--(it appears on the check stub EVERY MONTH) Every year it is child enforcement sends a letter to his HR department, the IRS and the Credit agencies that he is in arrears. This has been happening for more than 5 years. Every year he has to call, fax & write child enforcement agency that he is in fact CURRENT--they apologize say and that they have fixed the computer problem and it will not happen again. Groundhog day following year--same thing --he is a bit passive so it just recently got him riled up enough to really try to fix it for good--he now has a court date set for them to amend whatever is causing their computer system (staff...) to incorrectly blah blah blah this is very frustrating to say the least 1) how do we go about getting the erroneous info on the credit reports removed especially since this has been happening for more than 5 years and he has been turned down for loans even though he has the court papers and pay stubs showing everything as it is supposed to be and there is minimal debt/good income? 2) how do I do these daily pulls I keep seeing people write about. 3) does anyone have any general suggestions re: dealing with child enforcment agencies--he is being penalized even though he pays as he should and has the kids on a regular basis thanks a bunch!
  9. Hi all, I am new to posting so bear along with me if I ramble--OK--here is the situation quick, fast and dirty. My husband pays about $2,000 per month in child support as ordered (yes it is appears on his paystub every month) --problem is the child support agencies handling his case report every year that he is in arrears. This has been going on for about 7 years. He has been to the offices, faxed, called and gotten yes sir it has been corrected only for it too happen the beginning of every new year. He is a bit passive so it has been going on much longer than I find acceptable
