  1. Thanks - I'll send that to the OC. Do I need to reply to the CA at this point? I've already opted out and my reports are frozen due to a fraudulent unemployment claim that was filed in my name. I unfroze them for a day last week to have them pulled by the lender and then quickly re-froze them.
  2. Hi everyone, Long time. I haven't dealt with any collections in several years so I am in need of your guidance. I had a $100 hospital bill from earlier this year that completely slipped my mind. I actually called the hospital on October 6 and paid the bill. A few days later I got a letter from Progressive Management Systems saying the debt was assigned to them, which was weird. I immediately logged on to creditboards to check WhyChat's hipaa letter program. I'm in the middle of a home refi and my scores are just under 800 and can't afford to have this on my reports. As of now the debt is not reporting to the CRAs. So I quickly fired off this letter to the CA: https://whychat.me/ltrcavalhipaa.html Well I assumed they would just go away since I had already paid the hospital but I just got a letter from them with a full bill from the hospital as well as a letter responding to my letter. Their letter says the debt was assigned to them on October 6...which is the same day I paid the hospital. Huh? Anyway, what do I do next? Do I need to contact the hospital? I really do not want this to show up on my CRAs. Any advice is appreciated.
  3. I just applied for Discover and got a $5k limit, LOLOL. Should I call and get it upped????
  4. Any reason you mentioned Mastercard? Sorry - it's been a long time since I've opened a new credit card. Trying to find the one that will give me the highest limit before I risk a HP
  5. Wow I've literally never done this. Let me research this. Looks like Citi Diamond Preferred has 0% interest on purchases for 18 months.
  6. Thanks CV!!! Serious question - we might be able to get this paid down if I go exempt for a month. Would that be unwise? I usually claim single/0 and have extra taken out of my paycheck so I can get a refund just in time for property tax day. I know this isn't the best thing to do - interest free loan to the government and all. We are in debt repayment mode right now but I will put that on hold and pay minimums to help pay this down. If I go exempt to pay this down would a lender look at my paystubs unfavorably?
  7. Hey gang, It's been a while. First off just want to say THANK YOU to this board - when I joined this board 14 years ago my scores were in the low 500s. I was young, dumb, had a ton of collections and lates on my report. My scores are now just below 800 and I think I'll hit the 800 mark by the end of this year or early next year. I literally can't believe it. Anyway, I'm in southern California where cost of living is insanely high compared to most of the country. My husband and I bought our dream home at the beginning of last year. We got a jumbo loan that we ended up refinancing through Schools First Credit Union at 3.875 in July 2019. In my county, the conforming loan cap is $765,500 for 2020. Anything above that is considered a jumbo. Our current balance is $785,500, so we're only $20k above the conforming limit. Obviously since COVID jumbo loan refis have taken a backseat. Schools First is offering a jumbo refi for 3.625 but I've found some other credit unions who are offering 3.5. I want to know if you guys are aware of any good credit unions who have really good jumbo refi rates. And by jumbo, I mean anything ABOVE $765,500. Thanks in advance!
  8. Hi there! Haven't been on this forum for years, but you guys helped me out a ton years ago when I was stupid with my money! I'm now helping a friend who was in a bad car accident 2 years ago. The other party was at fault. She ended up going to the hospital with her kids, and her own health insurance (BCBS) covered her medical expenses 80% after her deductible. My friend paid her resulting bills she received in the mail. It was over $10k that she paid. She is now being hunted by BCBS and they sent her to collections claiming that the at fault party's insurance (CIGNA) sent her a settlement check for $10k, which they never did. She hasn't received ANY checks from Cigna. How can I help her fight this? They are threatening to put a lien on her house. The collections company is called Conduent. She's checking her reports now to see if the collections have appeared there. Thanks in advance!
  9. Hi everyone! It's been ages since I've posted here. Thanks to this site I was able to fully fix my credit (over the course of a few years - I kept making mistakes and coming back and making mistakes and coming back until I finally got my act together). Anyway, I'm here because I'm helping my mom fix her credit now. She has one 30 day late payment in May 2015 from VW Credit on her report (this is for a current lease that ends Dec 2017). Would it be best to request a goodwill removal of that payment, or should we dispute the payment first? Thanks again.

  11. instead of doing R$ you should do M$ if you want to really earn those miles a lot quicker Wow, it looks like I've been MIA from this board for a long time. I have no idea what those letters mean!!!
  12. I thought I saw something posted on this recently but I can't find anything from 2016. Does anyone do this for the purpose of earning miles? Now that we have 1 toddler and one on the way, I'm more motivated than ever to earn tons of miles for reward travel to visit family across the country. What services are still available that allow you to pay mortgages with a credit card? Are the fees even worth the return? Thanks in advance.
