Keep in mind that if you have $600 due and you pay $598 you may get hit with interest. You need to have a charge made that month for which the grace period extends to the next statement that you can use for the $2 thingy.

Not credit related - but what the heck: Don't forget your 10% off Lowes or HD coupon. They usually take each others'. Would save you a pretty penny. 0

Wayward son returns home. I've been off reveling in my good credit - that has now been ruined. Long story short - Bought a camera as a gift at Brandsmart USA. Returned it 5 days later unused as mother didn't want to "go digital." Store has not refunded their branded cc through GECCC. Despite numerous attempts trying to get both companies to communicate with each other - neither seems interested in doing so. Numerous pleadings, and now warnings, to the President, Michael Perlman, of Brandsmart have gone unanswered - which I find particularly insulting and the pit of customer service. Anyway, because the account is now late and been closed - some of my other cc companies have now chopped my limits, jacked my rates, and charged me additional related fees. A few immediate questions are: Do I need to sue in State court rather than small claims since a simple refunding of the original amount will no longer make things whole? (Damaged credit, lates fees, interest, extra charges at other companies, etc.) Should I pay the now ridiculous amount GECCC now wants? Pay their latest settlement non-offer? Or, I could let it go to collections first (with all the potential issues that entails .) My thoughts are that paying it before filing would forestall Brandsmart from sending my refund to GE when they get served and then washing their hands of helping to resolve the other problems they've caused (ie - I've asked them to write a letter I could copy to my other cc companies explaining a mistake was made...) Should I also name GECCC in the lawsuit because even though they are reporting incorrect information, it is information they say they are getting from their client? On the other hand, I have faxed them copies of the refund receipt to no avail either. Brandsmart USA is an aka for Interbond corporation. Is it best to name the parent/holding corp. or the name on the store sign. I also want to name Michael Perlman (I hope they do an occasional internet search on their names) as well. Is this allowable or moot since it is a corporation? Any other thoughts would also be greatly appreciated. 0

If all else fails, there's always PsychDoc's nutcase (and all the variants) approach. Basically, the CA no longer has a fiscal interest in you or in keeping a tl on your cr. In fact, you are now a fiscal liability tying up their resources from collecting from other people so they'll delete just to get rid of you. It might be somewhere on CB, if not, read PsychDoc's primer at Creditnet.com and go from there. 0

Keep in mind, that factor includes the past 7 years for all accounts and not just the last 2 years that are shown. 0

I want to cry, I just don't understand all this stuff

It can be very overwhelming and frustrating at first. Trying for an hour to get an answer is just the beginning. I spent almost a month just reading and researching to get a good foundation before I started (but I didn't have the threat of a judgement either.) I found it helpful to read everything about a topic and not just what sounds exactly like the solution I'm looking for. Just like in medicine, there are often many paths to a cure and by focusing on just one you may miss even better alternatives. Hang in there and remember you've already done the most important thing - taken the first step. 0 -
Are you referring to the word censor that we've set to disallow links to certain other boards who refuse to allow links back to us? That's the only automatic function installed here. Or am I misreading your comment? Radi8 That must be it then. All I see is that typing in another board's name as a written reference and not even as a link gets "big-brothered." 0

Sassy, Huh?! Where the heck does this come from? Where did I ever say this wasn't 'da board?' (It was pointed out there are now 10,000 members. I'm about #36.) Where did I say I was confused or having trouble deciphering things? Where have I said not to confirm things? Jeesh - point out something interesting and get jumped all over. 0 On the other hand, using server side HTML rewrites to alter peoples' posts is not very above board now is it.

Er, creditwrench, recommends fraud: http://www.creditwrench.com/consumers/show...thread.php?t=82 0 edit - I've added a copy of the relevant portion so one doesn't have to wade through all the verbiage: "The bank you are getting the loan from wants to see that you paid the bill.. Well how do you prove you have? You need to prove you paid. So go to your bank and get a Bank Check made out to you OR your dentist.. Like this ::John so and so OR dirt bag dentist. Make a photo copy of the check but do not send to the Dentist show that to the loan officer and say here I paid it heres a copy of the check"

When you say "collection attorney" are you sure this is a collection agency or could it be an attorney retained by the bank to represent them. It makes a difference. 0

Not so unusual. My 0% at MBNA just ran out so I bt'd it to my new Discover card. MBNA cut my limit from 6500 to 1500  . I've never really liked them and would close them if it wasn't an 8+ year old TL. 0

There's a place like that in S. Fla too. There must be a late night infomercial - "Buy debt for only pennies on the dollar and make a fortune." 0 -
I just got approved for Discover bit only for a piddling 5k. The reason I applied was for their 1 year 0% bt promo. 0
