  1. I also wanted to add (sorry the edit button didn't work for me because it errored for some reason) but does he put his old name at the top of the letter and sign with his legal name at the bottom of the letter? Thanks again for your help.
  2. Thank you. So I'm understanding that he should use his previous/birth name to match how they have addressed him? CA/OC Portfolio Recovery Assoc/Synchrony Bank/Amazon Firstsource Advantage/Synchrony Bank/CareCredit The OCs were either never notified of his name change or they asked for proof and he didn't follow through w/the request.
  3. I'm going to use this DV letter for my son. The collection letters are addressing him using his birth surname but he legally changed to my maiden name in 2014. So should I use his legal name now or the one that is on the collection letters?
  4. I think I understand - on 4/25 you requested a CLI on your NFCU CC, and on 4/26 you requested a CLI on your CLOC, right? I'm not sure if the CC and CLOC are different underwriters, but they do use separate CRA pulls - which would lead on to think that they are different departments. Jeffe, I received a letter today saying credit card too new. I waited 3 statements and 91 days. The cc was approved on Jan 24th and I requested the cli on Apr 25th. Should I wait for the AR coming up and just hit max?

I was wondering if the request for a cli on my NFCU cash rewards card was declined because I haven't received a response yet but maybe it's coming in the mail. They responded to the CLOC request for an increase so quickly. They did ask if I was going to start making deposits to my checking account and I said yes, I will have my paychecks dd from USAA to NFCU starting May 10th and from there deposits will come in every other Wednesday. Should I ask for another cli on the CLOC in 3 months or 6 months. I've read mixed advice on the timeline.
  6. I have high utilization on half my other cc so maybe their flipping a quarter to decide. The CLOC is also with Navy. My understanding is the cc and CLOC are separate depts. I only have a $200 balance on the cash rewards. I wanted to consolidate my cc balances.
  7. I was approved for the cash rewards $2800 and CLOC $5000 in January. Waited 3 statements and 91 days and on April 25th I requested $25k cli. Crickets. I've heard nothing. No email, no text, no phone calling, nothing. Just a message on NFCU website stating under review. Nothing about how many days. How long is it supposed to take? I was thinking of waiting for AR in May and then trying again but just ask for maximum. Wednesday night I applied for $15k CLOC and next day they countered with $9k which I accepted. How long should I wait to ask for $15k again? 3 or 6 months?

  9. At a 3k limit? Like someone else recently mentioned, most people are on these forum mostly due to bad credit. I just don't like the word "boners". The vulgarity associated with it? Oh, I'm a HUGE fan of vulgarity. I like tawdry, vulgar, offensive, profane. I relish uncouth. Thumbs-up to pornographic; in fact it's even better than merely indecent. You should't say "boners" after age 12, though. A: I got approved for a $3,000 Amex BCE Card Persons B, C, D, and E get an erection at the approval. Better? I believe we are looking for "erections" but you should ask the boner lady.
  10. Yet HARP 2.0 (a government program) is saving your butt on refinancing the first mortgage. They are great when you get your way. Be grateful that you are getting help, there are hundreds of thousands of families who weren't as lucky as you. Like you said, you have the income to make the payments.
  11. Ok, I will do that, but what does CMMR, OCC, and CFPB stand for? Also, wouldn't it be easier to just call them and tell them I don't want the card and remove the tradeline from my credit reports? CMRR - Certified Mail, Return Reciept OCC - the Office of the comptroller of the Currency http://www.occ.treas.gov/index.html CFPB - Consumer Financial Protection Bureau https://help.consumerfinance.gov/app/ask_cc_complaint and no, don't call them up - there have been 4 or five cases around here that i have read where they don't close your card, they add fees, and then turn around and sell it to LVNV funding. you end up being sued years later over a debt they never even sent you a statement on . a few were court cases on the HIBS forum. you send it in writing - if you never use the card, you have never accepted the contract and they can't charge you any fees. Oh wow, thanks for all the info! What a bunch of crooks! I did call them yesterday and told them I don't want the card. They said they would close it and zero out the account for the bureaus (since I made a stink about it over and over). I told the guy that he can't close a card that was never open since it was never activated since they were asking for me to send a copy of my DL/SS cards. No way would I fax them that info! Just didn't feel right. Also, told him the tradeline better be completely removed from my bureaus or I will be calling back and if need be, submit complaints to various agencies that advocate for consumers in this type of situation. Oh, before that, he told me I should keep the card to rebuild my credit. I told him I already have cards that do that without charging a $79 annual fee...he said it's $75...I said whatever, still 25% of the limit! This is certainly not a "no hassles" credit card!

  13. I just received my Credit One visa card with a $300 CL. I called in to activate and was told I need to fax them a copy of my DL and soc. sec. card. Then it takes 7 days before I can call back in to activate. I didn't realize there was a $79 annual fee which is making me think twice. It's already on my credit reports too. Anyone else have to fax in their personal identification? Is it worth it?
  14. Ditto this. The accts may or may not be hard to get off after BK anyway. IME, (and I've had a bit!) they'd just rather not respond when you dispute after you've filed because they aren't going to get anything from you anyway and if they mess up with the reporting, (not saying IIB, etc) you could have a lawsuit or two against them. You could fire up some sleeping dogs right now if you start disputing before you have a lawyer retained, etc. Ok, then my question is would it be ok to start disputing once I retain an attorney...just because I have a feeling it's going to be more difficult to get deletes after a bk?
  15. Thanks for your reply. I will include everything in the bk, but I thought it would be good to get a jump on my credit repair. I'm thinking it may be harder to dispute if a bk is showing. If I can get as many baddies off my report pre-bk, then the CRA won't think the derogatory items are all legit just because I will have a bk showing. Maybe I should post this in the bk forum?
