  1. I got my notice a couple of weeks ago. It was 8.99% and it will jump to 16.99%. I carry a balance on it but hope to have it paid off in the next couple of months. This is also my primary bank so I will keep it open and only use it when I know I can pay it off because I like the rewards that go with it.
  2. Ouch! I just came across my and DH's rate jack letters. My husbands isn't too bad since his interest rate was kinda high anyway. On his higher limit card it's going from 12.9% to 17.9%. His other card was at 14.9% and is also being bumped up to 17.9%. (Just paid this one off!) Mine is the one that hurts! My interest rate had been dropping from 10.8% last summer and is now at 6.85%. Well now my rate will be 17.9%. I had done a BT using my purchase rate since it was so low but I guess I will be moving that before April 17. I've never carried a balance longer than 6 months or so so it's not really going to hurt but my husbands card has a bigger balance so I will have to see about paying that down.
  3. I was looking at my credit report today and realized that GEMB lowered my CL on 2 accounts. I haven't used them in over a year so I guess its not a surprise that it happened. My Sam's CC went from $2000 to $124 and my Dillard's CC went from $4300 to $124. Those are rather odd CL's but oh well. It doesn't really matter since they aren't used. I have a Sam's Discover w/ a CL of $10500 that hasn't been touched and a Dillard's Amex w/ a FL of $4500 so I still have something to use if I shop there. Those go along with my recent CLD on both of my Amex cards. So I've had almost a $25k decrease in my CL's in the past week. Bummer!
  4. So I just found out I was CLD on both of my Amex cards. I've had both cards for over a year and have never had a late payment on either. On my Blue Cash I had a $6100 balance with a $15k limit and that was slashed to $6300. On my Costco Amex, I had a $4700 balance with a $12k limit. I've been shopping recently a lot at Costco so that's why the balance is that much. I have a 3.99% BT rate on the Blue Cash but there is no way I'm gonna leave it there since my util will be too high. I have a Penfed Visa without a balance but its only at $10k. I've already called them to see if I can get a increase and I'll just move both of them over there. The app is in and I guess I should hear back by tomorrow about it. If not, I can move one of the cards to another CC, I just thought it would be easier to have them on one and they do have a 5.9% on BT's right now. I won't close either of them but I won't be using them for a long time. I guess its a good thing I've got all of my holiday shopping in! I just hope that I can get the BT's in before it messes up my util on my credit report. So I guess I can pitch all of those Platinum card apps they've been sending me for the past couple of weeks! Not that I would have paid that much anyway just to carry a card.
  5. Doh! Well....I tried again for a card and another denial. I recently refinanced my car loan and got a new CC from State Farm (the cc I didn't even apply for....my agent did it for me!). The rep I spoke to said I was denied because of inquires. At most I think I have 3. I pulled my FICO's last month and I remember seeing a couple on EQ (that's what he said they pulled) but I think I have a new one because I opened up a new checking account with Penfed last week. I originally opened up my account in November so I couldn't use my original inquiry. I know I don't have any baddies and my scores are pretty good. EQ 756, TU 767 and EX 756 Sooo.....should I even bother with trying to get a recon once my denial letter comes through or should I just wait again and hope that I have better timing the next time around? You know.....they were my last denial too and that was in '06. I so not used to this! Monica
  6. My hubby just got an an offer of 1.99% BT for life with a max fee of $50. As soon as I can find his Juniper card (its in his wallet somewhere!) then I am moving over the balance. His interest rate is 9.9% with Juny but I'll take 1.99% anyday! Not trying to hijack the thread or anything! Every now and again Cap 1 has some good offers.
  7. I just got a $1500 CLI that bumps me up to $8500. I didn't fill out any forms for it, just clicked on the luv button. I've had the card about 6 months so I guess it will be another 6 months before I can try it again.
  8. Hmmm..., I guess I can have my husband check tomorrow when he goes to their office. I haven't pulled my CR yet so I don't know if there was more than one inq. Thanks for the responses!
  9. Hello all! I was just wondering if you've had an agent apply for a credit card for you? The week before last I agreed to letting them check to see if they could refinance my car at a lower rate (they did, almost 3% lower than my old loan!) but they didn't say anything about a credit card. Well, today I got a letter from SFB saying that I was approved for a credit card and I would be receiving it shortly. I called them up and and looks like I was approved for the rewards card at 11.9% with a $12k CL. I mean, I'm not mad or anything but aren't they supposed to tell you about that stuff before they put a application in on your behalf? Or do you think that SFB does that when you apply for a loan product?
  10. Congrats! Not to hijack your thread or anything but my DH recently got a auto CLI too. He hadn't used it for over a year so I told him to use it to buy a couple of things around Christmas. I checked it yesterday and he was given a CLI of $1500 to bring him to $9000.
  11. Hi! I got my Blue Cash in July I believe and asked for a CLI from $10k to $15k in August (that's when I actually activated it). Also, when I got my Amex Costco in April, I asked for a CLI at activation and went from $2k to $5k but maybe they aren't doing it now.
  12. I had a CO that fell off last March, 8yrs from the time of the CO. Anyway, I applied for a Discover card after getting a ton of preapprovals a couple of months after that. I was approved for a $5k CL. I was sure I would be blacklisted but I decided to go for it anyway. YMMV Monica
  13. I did have a charged off account that finally fell off of my report early last year so I decided to apply. I was given another CC with a $5000 limit. But.....all of my reports were pretty much clean at the time and my scores were over 700 on all three. I would probably give it some more time and let your scores come up a bit.
  14. Thanks for the info! I think its kinda funny that my Sams Discover CL is higher than my actual Discover card That limit is only $5k. I think I should stop applying for cards for the moment. I just checked my FICO scores earlier this week and they have increased since I last checked them in January. As of 4/10/007: TU - 754 EQ - 754 EX - 746 I don't want to mess up what I have so far, so I'm good as far as new accounts go. Hopefully I can be close to 800 by the end of the year.
  15. I was at Sam's tonight and got one of those preapproval messages on my receipt so I took it up the counter. I guess the chick tabbed through without asking me so I didn't know what limit I was preapproved for. The guy behind the counter said that he can run an application through to see if I am really approved. I decided to go for it to see if I could get a higher limit than what is on my Sam's CC. That limit is $2000 and I've had that since 10/05. It comes back approved for $8000. I didn't even supply my annual income! So two questions. Since I filled out a application I suppose I will take a hart instead of getting a soft since the cashier put that I declined the preapproval (even though she didn't ask me)? Another thing, will my Sams CC be closed? I asked the guy at the desk and he said it would but I wasn't sure if that sounded right. Thanks!
