I had tried for modifications in the past and never had any success. 30 year fixed mortgage opened in 2007. Loan is currently at 105% value of the house. Freddie Mac, with lender paid PMI. My wife and I both have scores in the 700's and have never been late with our bill. We make a couple thousand dollars a month less than when we opened the mortgage and have since had two kids. Bills are becoming very tight and I'd love to trade in my 7.25% interest rate... Thanks in advance. I search the latest programs every few months but it seems the PMI is the kicker. I thought it was a long shot but I figured I'd post here in case I have missed anything. Thanks!

I want to change my AAdvantage card to a cash returns card. I don't travel anywhere and I'm tired of the annual fee. I've paid in full every month since 2005 and charge about $40k a year in bills. So now that I'm ticked off at Citi for the rate jacks and conversion freeze, I'm contemplating closing out the card and finding a new card that fits my needs. Is it worth getting rid of a card with five years history when my credit history begins in 2004? All of my negatives are finally gone. I could also move to a card that actually reports the credit limit so that my utilization doesn't look like garbage. I have a mortgage and a car loan, so no big purchases in the near future. Wife has excellent credit too if necessary. Is it a bad idea to close one of my oldest cards? Thanks for the input!

I'm fairly certain that I have no more options to explore but I thought I'd post my situation and see if missed anything before giving up. I have a Freddie Mac mortgage. Former Taylor Bean and Whittaker, now serviced by CENLAR. My current rate is 7.125. I chose lender paid PMI when I purchased the house, putting 3% down. I've never been late on my mortgage. I do not have 20% equity in my home but I do fall with the 120% (possibly the 105% depending on appraisal) range for a Home Affordable Refi. TB&W would not particpate in the Home Affordable Refi program. CENLAR does not originate loans. I was contacted by a broker who said they could help but then backed off because of the lender paid mortgage insurance. I don't qualify for any hardship based modifications but I could use the money to support my growing family if there is a possibility of obtaining a lower rate. After months of searching, I think that I'm out of luck. Any info to the contrary would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi All, My dentist charged me and my insurance for the same procedure twice. My Insurance will not get involved but they wouldn't pay the second claim either. Before being sent to collections, as was being threatened, I paid my outstanding bill, pulled my dental records, and found a new dentist. After months of correspondence, my former dentist will not reverse the overcharge. How should I escalate this? I notice that the ADA has a complaint procedure but I worry that they would have a professional bias. Should I pursue an AG complaint or is there a more appropriate governing agency? I'm in Mass if this matters. Thanks in advance!

I've had written correspondance from a lawyer since early 2006. I've counted several FDCPA violations since the beginning of our correspondence. I recently read that there was a 1 year SOL on FDCPA violations which made me think that I missed several opportunities... However, the lawyer recently sent me copies of our full correspondence from early '06 when I challenged his validation. Did he just send me a big gift wrapped present by sending all the letters again? Wouldn't this restart the clock on each potential FDCPA violation contained within? Thanks!

Thanks for the response! It is a local, small name CA in RI. They hardly register a hit on search engines.

I hadn't heard that...good to know...my experience was from 2005

Stay off the phone! Is the OC collecting or is it a CA/JDB? Are they on your credit reports? You should request validation via mail before proceeding any further. Giving them any money will likely not improve your score...it will just get you a paid collection/settlement.

It helps if the application is completely score based with no manual review. It also helps only if you are an authorized user for an account with good history with no negatives. Some companies report authorized users and others do not. A search of the board will give you info on the possible choices... I've had luck with Citi and Discover.

Best way to Opt out and have old addresses deleted?
Estarrio replied to blackjer's topic in Credit Forum
So, they will remove the previous addresses from my report? I few troubles with this process...you may run into an issue with some credit reporting bureaus if any trade lines that tied to an old address are still reporting. -
Calling at all usually doesn't do any good...especially since you have no record if needed. Did you dispute on line or via registered mail? I would highly suggest doing the latter if you haven't done so already. Have you disputed the trade line with the creditor/CA?

I've received calls from this number...seems to be a huge scam. Do a Google search for the phone number and you will get dozens of hits detailing people's experiences with this number.

It depends...and not all AU accounts will post. I have excellent success with both Discover and Citibank in 2005. Both posted within 30 days of my being added and facilited the scores necessary to get my first store cards, etc...

Legal Actions § 1692 i(a)(2) Brought any legal action in a location other than where contract signed or where consumer resides ------------------- I am being threatened with a lawsuit and I am hoping that the above portion of the FDCPA may be the break that I've been needing! -I live in Mass, which has a 6 year SOL. -The CC contract was signed in Mass in the mid 90's. -I was legally a resident of RI for about 8 months in 2000. -The CC went into default while living in RI. Many sites/lawyers/debt collectors state a 10 year SOL in RI. I understand that it may be 4 but I do not trust the interpretation of RI judge... -I moved back to Mass in 2001 and have been a citizen of the state since. -Naturally, a lawsuit is being threatened in RI and the lawyer claims that since I allegedly made payments on the account while living in RI and that was my last known address at the time of default that RI jurisdiction has been satisfied. When I read the FDCPA, I am lead to believe that if I live in Mass and the contract was signed in Mass (even though a copy does not exist, the debt collector admitted the date that the account was opened in writing), then I must be sued in Mass if I can prove citizenship at the time of alleged contract and after. The lawyer has provided six months of statements from the OC and un-notarized copies of proof of sales related to the chain of custody. The docs have been modified to exclude other accounts and only one proof of purchase has a computer printout with my the account info among a host of obscured accounts. Per the FDCPA, can I legally be sued in RI? If no signed contract/agreement exists, wouldn't the legal fees, interets, penalties after charge/off sale be a violation of this: 1692 f(1) Attempt to collect any amount not authorized by the agreement creating the debt or permitted by law I appreciate the help! I had worked very hard and successfully turned my life around, paid old OC's and cast away JDB's and collectors. I now have a home and a child on the way and a judgement would be devastating to my family right now. I'm working to learn the valuable information on this site again!

Thanks for the info all! I live in Mass now, which has a six year SOL and a borrowing statute. Also if a signed contract exists, it would be in Mass... I'm confused by the borrowing statute...If I'm sued in the other state that has a longer SOL, will the borrowing statute in Mass help me in that state? I've lived in Mass for 6 years now...lived out of state for less than a year and was a lifelong Mass resident before that... I wish I had never moved the first time!!!
