Just don't want to screw this up...
Sun Love posted a topic in Medical Billing & Medical Collections
Hi, I have some medical bills I haven't finished paying yet from having a baby last fall. I thought I would get them paid before they hit my CR but I noticed 2 on EX today, one is for $136 and the other is $300 both with the same collection/attorney. These are the last two that I owed. (After paying thousands to every different doctor/hospital affiliate.) What's the best way to go about paying these and get that removed? If I pay the OC right now (today!), can I use the HIPAA dispute process as described or would I be doing things out of order in a way that would make me stuck with this on my report? I've worked so hard to have better credit, I really want to maintain it. Thanks for your help. -
Maybe my questions weren't clear since I tend to ramble? I already have a secured $1000 SDFCU card, and since that doesn't graduate and I'm looking to grow my limits, would it be smart to open another secured card for $3000 or more? or is there a card that I could app for that might give me a similar limit? I've checked the creditpulls and think I might have a chance with Barclays? I would like to go for a Chase or Citi card but I don't feel too confident of my chances given my research. I get no love from USAA so I'll be pulling my accts from them soon. and PSECU & SDFCU won't give me anything until EX is clean. I'm looking for an EQ or TU puller that might give me a chance with a 6 year old $500 C/O. I was also considering some relationship building with a CD or high yield savings at SDFCU, Discover Bank, or Barclays Bank since they're rates were comparable. Any thoughts on that?

I own a property outright that isn't worth much but I found a cash buyer. I'm only going to make $20000 from the sale. Thanks to CB, my credit is better than its been in a long time but I can't take the cash and go buy another house because my DTI ratio is too high (that wonderful new van I bought ). I can't use my husbands awesome income to qualify because he has not so awesome credit. I would prefer to keep the house and rent it out (Asset + Income) but we'll be 1200 miles away so cutting our losses and taking the cash is easier. If I take the cash, I don't want to wake up in 3 months with nothing so I'm thinking a CD? I need to use $3000 for moving expenses so I was thinking of doing a secured card or loan because my highest limit visa/mc is $1500. I know I need a card with a bigger limit but I just don't think anyone's going to give it to me yet. Here's what I'm workjing with. EX has a judgment and CO that should both fall off in a year, score is 683 (PSECU), 8 INQ most over 1 year. EQ has the CO and score is 697 (myfico), 2 INQ (1 is 1yo, the other is Discover - turned me down last month and hasn't increased the $500 one I cosigned with my daughter on. TU has the CO with 663 (Walmart), O INQ. Util is 24%, oldest acct 22 yrs, AAOA 2-6 years depening on CR. I don't want to apply for credit unnecessarily, been gardening since Dec. 2012 and I'll need to apply for a rental for the move. And just in case you're wondering why move if it's not right? Have no choice, can't live here any longer. Not safe for my family. We stuck it out as long as we could but this didn't go as planned, losing quite a bit by selling house so low. It rains lemons on my plans a lot so I'm just trying to make some kind of lemonade. Would love to hear some ideas because I'm tapped.

I finally went for it and was shot down like a rabid dog! I tried to get my Amazon from $1700 to $4000. Oh well. Didn't feel like a good time to try any other accounts.

I signed into my account in order to checkout on HSN yesterday and got a pre-approval for $750. I had completely forgotten that HSN was one of those sites. Does anyone know if you can recon for a higher limit right away or wait a few months?

Walmart / Amazon store cards scoring model for CLI?
Sun Love replied to ToddP's topic in Credit Forum
So do you not have any purchases on the card when you make the request? I constantly use my amazon card, I pay it off also but it never stays at zero for long. And wasn't that pretty soon to ask again? They didn't ask any questions since you just requested one? Darn my itchy fingers strike again today, Argh itchy fingers called the LUV number again today and ................................ my amazon card went up to 2.5k -
You're right, it can be an obsession especially for those already a little obsessive like me. Congrats on the new home and happy gardening!

Even though my scores seem to stall just below 700, it was a good month. I couldn't have done it without all that I've learned here so thanks again. I feel like this is Credit Anonymous, a many step program that works if you work it! We had a baby boy last month so DH really wanted me to get a new minivan after I was stranded while 9 months pregnant. I really didn't want to add any long term debt but finally agreed to go used car looking. Three hours later, I left the dealership with a 2012 Chrysler Town & Country with 3 miles on it, from the showroom floor. I was approved with Chase at 5.69%. I was shocked, I went in hoping for 7-9% based on my research. The last time I bought a new car was 13 years ago and we were approved beforehand and worked everything out online. This was the first time I ever bought one by myself and the lowest rate we've ever had. I had tried getting approved online and with CU's and kept getting denied so I wasn't feeling optimistic at all when I went in. Then I followed that up with a round of increases: Walmart 1265-->2100 Amazon 1100-->1700 Brylane Home 950-->1350 Old Navy 750-->1200 also Sept. approval on Dillards Amex, only $600 and I didn't try for more. (Chicken and just happy to get the approval!) I'll try for Lowes CLI next week. This has been a wonderful journey and I visit routinely to be inspired by others success and to keep learning! Thanks so much!

I'm a chicken, hate talking to people so I used the automated after I saw they recently softed my report. Nice bump (Walmart) from $1265 to $2100. Maybe, I'll finally give the luv# a try when I go for a CLI on Lowes soon. -
