I just paid off my auto loan after 3 years. My local CU sent me the title. Do I have to go to DMV to transfer the ownership under my name? Thanks.

Isn't the title already in your name?

Marv,

Thanks for your reply.Yes, it is under my name but CU is listed as lienholder. Do I have to get it removed?

They usually sign off under the Lien Release section of the title.

Florida Title

upper right hand section of a Florida Title about 1/3 of the way down. Dunno what your states title looks like.

They did sign off under the Lien Release section. I guess my question is that if I need to go to get a new Title re-issued without the Lien Holder listed.

Marv,

Thanks again. I hope that my 06' Prius will last longer than my 02'. My car payment was too bad. It was not as bad as my credit card payment.
