Hello there. AS you see I am new to the board. I have been on for 3 hrs now just looking But just wanted an expert opnion. I tried this past day to get a used car. My scenario is

 

me 545

wife 568

I have gone bk in 2001

 

Now I was turned down by three of the major finace places in my neighborhood. Beneficial, Regency, and grrr can't think of the last one as I am typing this.

 

Now the car is used but mileages is right around the 10k a year so not excessive. The car is only valued at 7900.00 So any ideas? help?

Were these finance places as you call them affiliated with any dealer, or did you apply on your own?

I applied on my own...what I did is the car is about 2 hrs away and not with a FRANCHISE dealer...read mom and pop dealer. He told me the companies he uses for peple with less than perfect credit. so I thought it smart to kind of "pre approve" before I go the whole way up and get my hopes up only to be denied credit? was this a bad move?

IMO, yes with scores as you indicated. This will likely result in a system turndown with those lenders.

 

Therefore, if you were to find another car to your likeing, and another dealer had access to the aforementioned banks, they would be unable to seek an approval on your behalf as you are already turned down. They would have to seek other sources, resulting in yet more inquiries, which is likely to continually reduce your scores.

 

IMO, knowing only what small bit of information that you have told us, I would recommend you seek assistance at a local dealership that has reputable Finance people. They are likely to have other resources and possibly be of assistance to you.
