Okay. My dh and I are debating about getting a new Tahoe since they are offering those discounts. We are looking at having our financing from our credit union when we go to the dealer. Now I am wondering if a dealership will take $28K for a truck that is already discounted to $30K-32K? Do you think that is possible or are we asking for too much of a deal?

Thanks!

I think paying 30K including tax, title, license, and fees is pretty reasonable. Now I just have to find out how to calculate all the fees that are included. Can anyone point me in the direction of how to estimate the fees?

No, I don't think so. Each state is different, some states charge sales tax, some dont. tag, title fees, dmv fees, other fees may be based on localities, plus there is the dealer fee, which i am sure varies widely.

Search the loss leaders for an even better deal, there are a ton of loss leaders on SUV's/Trucks right now.

Where do i find the loss leaders?

newspapers best bet

It'll be just ONE stock number usually.

Marv,

When you see those loss leader ads, and it has only one stock number, does that mean that they actually have the vehicle in stock? If they don't have one in stock, will they get you one at that same price?

I have a feeling that these are just step off pieces, but I wonder if they really will try to find you another car like it, if they don't have one in stock.

I only ask this because some of those loss leader ads are just brutal low in their pricing, and as the old saying goes, if it seems too good to be true........

keep in mind the ad is placed several days in advance so it can be produced and proofed. And then it's publicized. That one stock # may by that time already have been sold.

And no they most likely won't try to find you one for another. Most o those loss leaders the dealer retains all incentives. Usally all incentives are used to get to whatever number is used, and most customer won't qualify for ALL incentives. So you can't buy it for that number anyways.

Don't kill the messenger.

Dealers around here will sometimes state how many they have at the loss leader price, especially on trucks. A local dealer is running 2008 F150's for $12,850 with 5 to choose from. Call the dealer beforehand to sell if the loss leader vehicle is sold.

Interesting.

But they do have the vehicle and they will sell it at that price, if they still have it. At least it does sound legit. And also, if you have good credit scores, then I am assuming that you can buy it for the price advertised. At east, if the consumer does their part, then you can, at least, buy it.

Bought a new Tahoe yesterday. Not for 28K but for a very, very good price considering everything we got on it. Thanks, CB, for your assistance.
