My DH's credit has been repaired now, thanks to CB!

DH has two entries on Chexsystems. One from Union Planters/Regions Bank that should have fallen off on 4/17/08 from a personal account, and then another entry from Wells Fargo that was reported in 2006 for a business account. We are ordering DH's chex report again to make sure the Union Planters/Regions Bank entry has fallen off. We have banked with Washington Mutual/Wamu for 6 years jointly; I have banked with Wamu for 10 years (when they were still Bank United here in Texas).

He has two credit cards with Chase: the Chase Freedom with a $7500 limit, and the Chase Platinum card with another $7500 limit. When he logged on to pay one of the bills, there was an offer to him to from the Freedom card to open a free Chase Checking account and receive $125.00. So he thought, what the heck?.... and applied. Chase called the next day to finish opening the account. They did a soft pull on Experian and had him verify accounts. After the accounts were verified, he was instructed by customer service to stop by any local Chase branch and show two forms of ID in order to complete opening the account.

It was 3 or 4 days before we were able to stop by a branch for him to show two forms of ID. While we were there, he talked to the lady and asked her about the Continental Airlines debit card. (DH is an employee for Continental, and we use our debit cards to pay for EVERYTHING except the mortgage, so while we get free flights the miles would be awesome for hotels, rental cars, etc) She explained to us that the Continental Airlines Preferred Debit Card will give you 1 mile for every $1 spent, and there is an annual fee of $65 per ACCOUNT for this card. (Link for the cards: http://www.chase.com/ccp/index.jsp?pg_name...ental_airlines). DH asked to add me to the account, and to order the Preferred debit cards.

After she added me to the account, she told us about the Chase Plus Savings account. Because DH has two Chase credit cards totaling 15k, the fee is waived for it. We opened the account. We were able to upgrade the free checking to a Chase Premiere checking, and that gives us a free small safety deposit box (we have needed one for a while, just never got one).

It has been a little over a week, and when DH logs in, the checking and savings account are still there. We are hoping that since they pulled DH's Experian report that they will not check Chex. How long do we need to wait to see if the accounts will stay open since we are in Chex for the Wells Fargo account?

If they were to close it, what is your opinion on how long? 30 days? I'm just worried that they're gonna start finishing/filing all the paperwork away and the back office is going to see it and close the accounts.

I would venture to guess that after 30 days you shouldbe fine yes. I really believe you are now. I always tell people to have a

" back up account" and never have all of you money on one place as well.
