okay so i disputed an item on my Chexsystem report. it was for a US bank account and I was reported for "account abuse" . its saying the original charge off amount is about 600 reported in 07'. I found out about this derogatory item after i attempted to open a account with my jobs employee credit union. i already have a few checking and savings accounts but i really really want a credit union account :P

anyways the account came back "verified". i have since received a debt collection letter from a collection agency in regards to this account. the collections agency is reporting the balance as 345. I was wondering should i contact US Bank and ask them to delete if i pay? has anyone had any luck doing this for a checking account?

If you are going to go that route, make sure you get it in writing. Yes there are some people that have asked for PFD. This situation may or may not work for you since it has been turned over to a CA. Definitely worth a shot if you are going to pay it off. At the very least, they will have to update your chexsystems report and show that it is paid. This may help you get an account at some banks and credit unions depending on where you live.
