I myself never went to college so please excuse me if I sound dumb.

My daughter will be a junior next year and has all intentions of going to college (a university). Her grades are okay but they are not great she makes A, b & C's. My DH has been out of work for almost a year and we have went through all our savings and we are struggling to make ends meet. After working so hard to build our credit back up it has taken a drastic nose dive since we were unable to pay our credit cards and we fell behind on our mortgage (which is now caught back up). I know we will not be able to come up with the money for her to attend college but I want her to go. I don't understand how student loans work can some one explain?...... or if she can even get a student loan. Are there any grants or federal funding she might qualify for? I have tried looking online but I am not sure who to trust on all the different websites. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Well for starters she needs to fill out a FAFSA application... http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

This stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Start by looking at her schools website. Major universities have extensive FA information on them.
