Tax E-Filing

I logged on the IRS this morning to file my taxes and saw a list of companies offering e-filing services. I want to file like I did last year - e-file directly with the IRS.

 

I know it's all about capitalism, but I don't want my info residing on these companies' insecure databases and the companies marketing junk to me because they have my info. For me, it's about privacy and security.

 

Is there no where on irs.gov to e-file directly with Uncle Sam?

Nope. If you don't want a third-party company involved, it's paper filing only. That's probably what I'll be doing from now on with my Federal taxes.

 

I agree with you, though, it'd be much better to have a direct e-file option. We have that option in California for state income taxes, and I think it works very well.
