I have some TL's from USA FUNDS and EFS FINANCE on my CR as a result of some defaulted SL's. I have contacted both companies over the phone (I now know thats a no no) and was told that since they don't have the loan anymore they have no access to make any changes at all to my CR. Is there ANYTHING at all that can be done to have these removed from my CR or do I just have to wait for the 7 yr roll over to run its course? I am only three years away from that now as it is.

I was thinking a DV letter or something like that.

Any advice?

Did you pay these loans off??

I would wait. They can and will verify and if you read the forum, several people have reported their CR tradelines actually got worse.

IMO I think there is hope to get these off just from what you said. If they have no way of changing anything at the CRA, because they don't have anything anymore.... then hoe can they verify?

I would suggest reading more about DV's like you said. You might have an avenue there. But more history about these loans might help others (with more wisdom and experience than I) to advise you.

Good luck.

Just because a student loan is transfered, doesnt mean that there is not information at that particular agency. The agency has the info in the achives and regular CSR's cannot discuss anything they cannot access. For credit reporting purposes, they have the info and will verify. It is all verfiable thru the NSLDS database which they have access to as well.

From my reading of the OP's first post, it sounds like the loan with USA Funds has bee subrogated to the FEDS. That would be more of a papertrail. And a new negative tradeline.

So basically I should just let these run their 7 year course and age off? If I send a verify letter there is a good chance they will update information thus adding more time to the TL?

The USA Fund line hasn't been updated since Oct '02 and the EFS Finance is Mar '02. So they should be scheduled to fall off in 2009 correct?

I guess this is the "dont hit a wasp nest with a stick" theory...
