I have a judgement for my Perkins Loans. The file date was 04/2001.

I just received a call from the Attorney telling me that this will go back to the government for collection. I am not paying on it at the moment.

I didn't want to set up paymt arrangement..I just wanted to pay it off...It's on my "to do" list for the end of this year.

Is it possible that this judgement can become a garnishment?

Sure can. Up to 15% of your take home pay - which is your gross minus taxes. You should set up a rehab on it immediately.

Sounds like the DOE is subrogating it from the school. I would suggest you pay this off yesterday before more collection fees are dumped on it. Plus with the judgement they can garnish you more than the 15%.
