visa credit cards

I wasn't sure where to post this so I apoligize if it is in the wrong section.

I was just wondering if anyone knows what the chances are that visa will sue me? I have 2 visa cards amounting to a couple thousand dollars that I can no longer pay on. I know nothing about this kind of stuff but I heard that living in Texas they can't garnish your wages. Is this true? Will they bother to take me to court for a couple thousand dollars? What happens if I can't pay even after they take me to court. Thanks for any help you can give me.

heather your better off trying to figure out how to make the payments on these cards... as the payment cant be that high for only a couple thousand dollars, and its so much cheaper in the long run to get back on top of them now to revive them if you are presently current or just a little behind. i am not sure about the laws in texas... but they can most certainly sue you thus compounding your problem with judgements, in ability to obtain new credit for a couple of years... and when you do get some the rates will be so high you wont want them. if you are presently current.. figure out how to consolodate them for one lower payment. thats my advice to you based on what you have written.

Heather, many banks have a 2 percent to 4 percent of the balance as the minimum payment, with some adding fees, etc. At 4 percent, $2000 is about $80 a month. You would want to pay more to keep paying the balance down.

 

Is there some reason that you cannot handle this type of payment? You need to maintain payment as the accrual of interest and fees would soon drive the balance up, up, up to the point it would be difficult to pay.
