I'm asking this question for a friend.

He has a 1,200 medical bill that Medical says they will pay 1/2 of that bill, but only after he pays his half. Is that the way it works?

oh, one more question....

He has setup monthly payments with the billing service and they have put a collection on his credit report. Now his credit score has decreased by 25 points.

He was told that a collection wouldn't be put on his CR as long as he made his payments... of course, this isn't in writing. Anything he can do?

Thanks :dntknw:

Okay, I don't know anything about Medi-Cal so I'm hoping someone familiar with that will jump in and say something. Did your friend happen to write down the name of the person he made the payment arrangements with and the date that it was made? If so, he needs to contact that person again (the OC, not the CA) and find out why they backed out of their deal.

Medi-Cal is Medicaid in the state of California. Depending on

the circumstances, if someone with Medi-Cal receives care from

a contracted Medi-Cal provided, there may be no patient payment

required.

If the subscriber has above a certain level of income, Medi-Cal

will require that a certain amount be paid before by the individual

before they begin to pay. Like a deductible or copay.

If you have Medi-Cal coverage, but decide you want to go to

a noncontracted provider, then you will have to pay for the

services yourself. Doctors who are not contracted providers cannot

bill Medi-Cal for their services.
