  1. I am also curious about what specifically your letter contained. I have one last baddie, and it was opened before my 18th birthday.
  2. I would appreciate a pm with the instructions. Thanks
  3. I made sure to get his name when thanking him for his help. I really didn't want to push getting something in writing right then, and was happy for his help. Hopefully I'll get the confirmation in the mail of there dispute, and that will be adequate if I ever need it. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.
  4. I called cap one today, and by some miracle I actually reached someone who wanted to help. I told him my story about not being able to find anyone through all of there departments that had any record of my account in there computers. He put me on hold to verify that what I was saying was correct , and then he informed me that he was going to put a dispute through to the cra's to have the tradeline removed. He said that I would recieve confirmation through the mail of there dispute to the cra's. I really can't believe it, and I'm saving my happy dance till after I see them removed from my reports. My main problem is staying patient, and waiting it out to see if they actually do what they say they would. Anyone have an estimate of time this should take to process?
  5. Congrats! Must be a good feeling seeing your hard work pay off. Does anyone know how long it takes for trade lines to be removed from your reports when they request a deletion from the cra's?
  6. Thanks exactly what I needed to know.
  7. Does paying a co off in full effect your credit score differently than if you were to settle for less? Would these also effect an underwriters decision when applying for a loan? Thanks
  8. Congrats!
  9. Can Cap one be reporting a balance when they are also reporting it as a charge off? I do not have any ca's on my report regarding this account.
  10. ...AND FOR THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY The only issue I had was an APR JACKAGE from 5.90%--->10.90% They blamed it on higher costs of credit (TOO BAD THE COST OF CREDIT IS AT BARGAIN BASEMENT PRICES) They do pull 2 or 3 hards for applications (that can be a down-side) I understand the other side, but things happen to people everyday in life that may take precedent over keeping an absolutely clean tradeline with cap one. When making choices you need to know the best and worst outcome. I personally won't advise anyone to obtain a cap one card, because if things do go bad for them they will have a difficult time dealing with them. Every credit company has there problems but it just seems as if everybody has difficulties with cap one.
  11. I was sent to Trak america by capital one. Is trak America run by cap one? They forwarded me to a lawyers office in Il. The lawyers office told me that the case was closed with them and quickly verified that my mother had passed away. I was told by the lawyers office that they would send verification that the case was closed to trak america, and to call back to verify that this was done. I know that this is not the way that is advised to deal with this situation, but the balance affecting my utilization is the only thing keeping me from the necessary scores for the refinance.
  12. Whatever you do, just make sure you keep her away from capital one. Just take a look around the forums and see all the problems they have made for people.
  13. I just got an update that my orchard account has reported to the cra's but I'm unable to get my updated fico scores due to the fraud alert they placed on my reports from my last round of disputes. Has anyone had any luck getting there reports unfrozen over the phone, or is it best to write in to get them removed?
  14. Congrats!! It sounds like everyone has a horror story regarding cap 1, and it's the main thing dragging down there scores. There should be a public service announcement about staying away from them.
  15. It is possible when you fight an account for removal it will be DVd and Re-aged? On my Sprint they could not DV it and it is STILL nto on my report... Does this mean I should not fight NJ Financial Aid to Fight? Isnt it best to go to the OC First to try to get it removed, THEN fight with the CRAs? Or shall i send dispute about my account to the Big Three first? Or should i wait for it to pull itself out of Default FIRST and THEN see what happens?? I am 2 months away... Are you saying your two months from it being scheduled for it to fall off?? If so from what I've read you can dispute it as obsolete the month before or the month it's scheduled to falloff. You do this basically as a reminder to the cra that it needs to be removed. When you dispute it though you need to know that they might reage your account. Make sure you have paper copies of your reports so that you can prove the reaging to the cras. I'm no pro, this is just what I've gathered through my reading on this site. Maybe one of the pros will come along and correct me if I'm wrong.
