  1. went to app status today to try and get an online version of the denial letter to see what the reasons are. No can do because it still shows processing. AMEX is really disappointing me on this one.
  2. Your wisdom was right. I called in today and was told the review was completed yesterday and it was declined. It still says "in progress" on the website. Very frustrating to feel like I was given the run around for no reason, but oh well such is life, I'll try again in 6 months.
  3. your right, its a long shot....at this point I'm interested to see how it will play out, though I will admit I'll be a little pissed if they put me through all the trouble just to decline it...again
  4. for good measure i faxed it twice from 2 different fax machines --- maybe the magic American Express Fax machine will get it this time
  5. so after a 15 minute call today, I am told the magic fax machine apparently ate the documents and I need re-fax because they can't find that they were ever submitted. Of course a multi-billion dollar company such as AmericanExpress doesn't have an email submission or upload solution - no the only way to submit the documents is via Fax or US Mail. Ugh, so here we go I am instructed to fax again and wait 24 hours to call and confirm receipt. Why no one could tell me on Thursday or Friday they hadn't received the fax is a mystery that will never be solved.
  6. 3 hours later, its still "locked" by someone doing a review After 11 minutes of holding, the nice gentlemen says he is unable to reach the colleague doing the review by email or phone and perhaps he is on a break so I should just wait 24 hours and call back. Except there only open Monday- Friday, so I should just call back on Monday.
  7. Called in this morning to see if anyone checked the fax machine last night. The agent told me he could not open the file because "someone" was in it and working on it and he didn't want to "interrupt them" Says he couldn't see if it was the Media Department or who just that it told him someone else was already in the file verifying information. Says call back in a hour and it should be done. Fingers crossed
  8. called back late this afternoon. Was put on hold for about 7 minutes while the rep contacted the "Media" Dept. She came back said no "no one had checked the fax machine yet" and I should call back tomorrow. I asked if I should perhaps re-fax the documents, could they have been lost since it was well over 24 hours and I was assured that I should not and to call back tomorrow because by then she was confident they would be "in the system". So maybe the night crew is coming in tonight to check the fax and they will scan them into the "system"
  9. So I app'd for a Business Platinum Card on a brand new business just started in 2015. Got the 7-10 day message. Check the my app status website and it showed declined would get a letter in the mail blah blah blah. Called recon line and get the same spill. I think asked it be submitted for recon since I'd been a personal card member for so many years blah blah blah. She puts me on hold for about 5 minutes and comes back to say "Based on you be being a long time valued amex card member I have submitted your application for recon" Status is updated on website to "pending" Stays like that for about 5 days. I call in and they say they need to put me on hold to speak with the "Media Dept" Comes back and says the "Media Department" needs a business verification such as bank statement, credit card statement, or letter from bank showing business address and verifying its a real business. No problem, Bank VP writes me up a letter and I fax it off to the number the AMEX rep gave me (the standard 4506T fax # in SLC) call in a few hours later to confirm they received it and of course they tell me that it will 1 to 2 business days for them to get it off the fax machine. (i know its not a real fax machine and they must get thousands of faxes per day, but in my mind its funny to think it takes 1-2 business days to get something off the fax.) Anyway....in my way of thinking they wouldn't have asked for this banks statement copy if they weren't going to approve it, but I know logic isn't always the strong point with AMEX so what do you guys think?
  10. Whats the current deal with the Universal Premium MasterCard's by FleetCor (Chevron, BP, Voyager, Etc.) are they locked down to Fuel & Maintenace only? I have read conflicting threads with some folks saying they use them everywhere Master Card is accepted. I notice the photo's show the card as "multi" which should mean you can use it anywhere?
  11. So I formed an LLC in March. I immediately signed up for an EIN and the free D&B number. I have both. Now I decided to start working on credit. I remembered from years ago on this forum Staples & Office Depot were "easy" to get and would help you get started. Both are now run by Citi which declined my app or offered me a card if PG. The whole point is no PG. Reliable = Office Depot = Citi I did place an order with Quill, but they are owned by Staples. So I am interested to see how that turns out. Also of note, I didn't order $50 worth so from what I read after the fact, does that mean it will not report? I guess I will place an order at U-Line if I can find $50 worth of stuff that I don't need to buy. Do they only report at the $50 level? I tried T-Mobile, they said due to the fact that business tax ID had no file at Equifax or Experian the business was approved for up to 5 lines with a $400 deposit per line or no deposit if I PG. I was thinking about paying the $400 deposit just to get the trade line, but I don't know if they report. Secure business cards seem to be non-existent other than WFB and BBA, both of which I don't like, but I'll probably sign up for the WFB although it requires a dreaded branch visit....I did see a couple of CU's with secured business cards, but none of them were easy to join and had restrictive FOM's that meant I couldn't join. This is really worse than personal, you can't get credit without credit and you don't even have the option of secured cards to get started. Can you guys think of anything I am missing?
  12. Centurion is the AMEX Black card. Invitation only...250K-500K min yearly spend...plus outrageous fees. Very cool if you can afford it and if a few grand here and there is nothing to you...supposedly great perks too. I believe the OP was referring to the Amex subsidiary "American Express Centurion Bank" which issues some of Amex's in-house cards: American Express Branded Cards (Platinum, Gold, Green, Zync, Blue, and presumably Black) are issued by American Express Centurion Bank American Express Co-Branded Card (i.e. Delta, Costco, JetBlue, Hilton) are issued by American Express Bank, FSB American Express NETWORK cards are issued by other banks such as Citi, Barclays, USAA, etc.
  13. I got my first AU Amex Card in 2005, now every-time I get a new AU card from any account (personal or business) the initial card has a current member since date (i.e. 2011, 2012) However, I have found that if I call and request a replacement card (not a lost/stolen) when the replacement card arrives it has a member since date of 2005 I have never asked about backdating, it just comes in that way, but it does not show history to 2005 on my CR.
  14. got my letter today.......Orange County
