Hello. I have a question that I'm hoping someone can help me answer. I have a BK on my credit report, which was discharged on 1/2000. I sent a letter to TU disputing two of the items on the BK. They just sent a long letter back to me with the "Investigation Results" on the 2nd page, and the Results state "New Information Below." Then it's a copy of my entire credit report from TU. The first page is a generic letter that states "Thank you for contacting TransUnion. Our goal is to maintain complete and accurate information on consumer credit reports. We have provided the information below in response to your request. Re: General Policy. The federal FCRA requires TU to investigate, free of charge, information on your credit report that you believe is inaccurate. If you have reason to believe that the fee charged by a credit repair company was too high, and/or its services were misrepresented, please let us know if you would like your situation to be referred for investigation by filling out and sending us the form below. WIth your permission, we will provide the information you send to the appropriate authorities. It would also be helpful for you to attach any brochures or documents that you received from the credit repair company." What does all of that mean? What do I do from here? Do I need to send another letter asking them where they got the information for the two specific disputed items? I thought that's what my first letter did. This is what I sent them the first time. December 28, 2004 TransUnion PO Box 1000 Chester, PA 19022 Dear sir/madam, This letter is a formal complaint that you are reporting inaccurate and incomplete information on my Credit Report. I understand that mistakes happen but your inaccurate information could cost me in higher interest rates and I have enough expenses as it is. Can you please investigate the following information and either remove it or at least send me the information that you used to add it to my report. 1. Name of company Acct #: XXXXX Date Open: August, 1995 Amount: $0.00 – Included in Bankruptcy 2. Name of company Acct #: XXXXX Date Open: March, 1996 Amount: $XXX.00 – Included in Bankruptcy Thank You, My name & information Any help is appreciated. I am new to this and trying to clean up my credit. Thanks for helping.

Back in July of 2004 my DW and I bought our first home. Part of the agreement was to pay off Sherman Acquisitions ( Sears Judgment 2 accounts ). So I called Sherman and bargained with them (in writing =P ) and paid them off. They dissapeared from my report (woohoo!!) and so did Sears when I disputed. Now, the only thing on my report are the Judgments that follow: Type: Judgment Date Filed: Mar 10, 2000 Reference #: XXXXX Court: XXXXX Plaintiff: SEARS ROEBUCK AND COMPANY Liability: N/A Asset Amount: N/A There are Three of these, one for each, TU, EX, EQ. What are my chances of getting rid of these and what would be the proper method of doing so? I dont want to screw myself on this one. Thanks for any heads up you can give.

This is beautiful. There is hadly any education on the importance of credit at a young age. This is where both my wife and I made out mistakes. We graduated from High School and started getting getting approved for CC's. My first mistake was TWO! Sears CC's. Once I filled one with a CL of 5k+ to the max they gave me another for 6K for "High Price" purchases. Thats when it all went downhill. I sure hope that the word can be expressed to the younger generation on how to be responisble and how to manage their finances. -
Thanks pryan67! I appreciate it. I have one more small question if I may. Forgive me, but I want to be sure. I havent dealt with a BK yet. Can I dispute the BK as well as the accounts? Thanks so much!

I love this board! All have been such a great help...thank you. Time for my wife to get her credit cleaned up. She had a bk and all debt was erased but still shows on her report. The BK shows as well. It was discharged in 01/2000. My questions is this. Can we dispute it and the accounts that were associated with it? Its been almost 5 years now. Not sure if it matters, but this was Her bk before we were married. Thanks kindly.

My Sherman dropped off about 2 months ago and it raised my PG score significantly. =)

Hi, and thank you for taking the time to read this. Ill try and make it short. My wife and I are trying to clean up our credit. We are reviewing our PG reports and she had a bk about 3 years ago, I have paid all my accounts or they have been long since charged off. Anyway, Im confused as to what I do next. Ive read the newbie boards, but there is such a plethera of info, I want to make sure I make the right move. Do we send letters to the CRA (TU, EQ, EX ) asking to delete records first? Any info would be greatly appreciated and I do applogize if this has been asked in the past. Thank you kindly

I put in 50.00 from my checkings at US Bank. Got approved and applied for both Visa and M/C shortly thereafter. Applying for a Checkings account now so I can dump US Bank. =P Put 10.00 to open Checkings at Patelco, transfered from Patelco Savings.
