But they can. If you can not tolerate a hard pull (going for a mortgage, etc...) best not to take the chance.
-
If they are an existing creditor, they can still hard pull even if you have frozen you reports.

And this wins most well thought out post in the thread. Apparently my old Providian account is now listed as a Chase account. I never made the connection. Thanks.

The account was closed by consumer in 2002. 0 As I posted, the account was closed by consumer in 2002. If there were ID theft concerns, I'm sure that I would have felt them by now. I'll check that. I did have an old Providian account. The thought never crossed my mind.

Any idea who's it is? No idea. The EX back door shows no other name or address variations that I can see. The only social is mine as well.

So I had a "new" Chase revolving (secured) account show up on my EX report 3 days ago. Opened 09/1995 and closed by consumer in 05/2002 with a perfect payment history. It shows up in both CS and through the EX back door. This account is definitely not mine. The heck of it is that this account is reported as my oldest account now. I don't feel right leaving it on my report as it is not mine, but dang that's a lot of history to give up by disputing it! Has this happened to any of you folks? How did you handle it? I think I'm going to go ahead and dispute it but man having to do this sucks!

Has anyone else been double charge this month by CS?
Hazzard replied to camcam's topic in Credit Forum
No double charge on mine, and it would stand out like a sore thumb. CS is the only use my Amex has gotten since they cut my CL in half. -
Sorry, I had to do it! You may want to try Credit Karma, but it will give you a TU score that is the same as TC. That's the only free one I know of.

subservientchicken.com but Hazzard beat me to it. Hey, FAKOs and subservient chicken have a lot in common. they're both fun for a while, but in the real world they are utterly useless and a complete waste of time.

Thanks, Hazzard. First post using Firefox. Now if I can only figure out how to sort the imported bookmarks, and put folders first. Bob Just go to Bookmarks - Organize Bookmarks (or "CNTL+Shift+B") You can drag and drop them into whatever order you want. Ah, thanks Hazzard. Firefox noob here. No problem. Glad to be of assistance!

Hazzard: No, I'm using Internet Explorer 8 RC1. IE is REALLY getting on my nerves, I keep getting lock-ups and crashes. Thought IE8 would fix the problem, but it hasn't. I'm seriously thinking of switching to Firefox, how do you like it? Bob P.S. BTW, there's no way to threadjack a totally frivolous post any way. I like it. No crashes so far and I've been using it about a year. It has some nice features and runs faster than IE for me. I switched when IE suddenly decided I no longer needed to see images on web pages. I've since fixed that problem, but it ticked me off! Firefox can be quirky on certain website forms. For example, I can't use it at all on Experian's web forms (but they are frozen now, so who cares).

Bob, do you use Mozilla Firefox? I noticed your "your score" arrow is off the chart and mine does that when I'm in Firefox. Also, the score numbers flash on and off. It's fine if I'm in IE. Sorry to threadjack...

where do you see this info on their website hazzard? I was speculating that it may be a way in since the eligibility page stated that "employees and members" of select groups were eligible for membership in USPS FCU. However, as was posted later in the thread, both Persevering and I verified with them that only employees of select groups are eligible so this is not an option for joining the CU based on what we were told.
