  1. This should at least be useful.. "In disputes, the CRAs will be required to use trained employees to review all supporting documents submitted by consumers who see an error in their files."
  2. I just got mine too.. the funny thing is, when I worked for Chase credit cards, we started rolling out chipped cards back in the late 90s.. then they just stopped and got rid of them..
  3. Hey folks.. My own credit journey has been beyond successful thanks to this place, After several attempts they finally are motivated to start cleaning up their credit when they found a house they can afford. So we got their reports and got the OPT out taken care of and they had a meeting with the finance guy today. My daughter has only been working for 2 months after 12 years off to be a mom so they are not even going to take her income and credit into account, which leaves my SIL. His score is 545, and he has one outstanding CC charge off for < $1000, a duplicate of that (it got acquired and converted to a MC), and a few smaller, low hanging fruit. The finance guy doesn't want him to dispute anything because then they will have to wait another 90 days and pull his credit again. (Weird, i just had to explain why something was in dispute) He also wants him to pay off the CC debt and get a secured card because he doesn't have a lot of positive credit history other than car payments. He needs to get to 590 so we can co-sign or 640 if he wants to do it without us. It seems counter intuitive to me for them to open a new account, even a secured one, when they are trying to get a mortgage. I also don't see the harm in removing names, addresses and low hanging fruit (like the 12 yr old cell phone collection) Thoughts and advice? I'm not really sure this finance guy has any clue about how credit repai wrks, so I need to talk my SIL back off he ledge of putting off the repair work again. SJ
  4. Merrick, Kay, HSBC.. I also had luck with Home Depot and JCP when my scores were around 600
  5. They discontinued their relationship with Hooters. I don't know anything about them being invite only though. FWIW when I was just starting out and my credit was mediocre they gave me $700.. I'm up to $100 and my wife is at $1500 now.
  6. I wish I could PIF them all, but I can't. maybe one of them, but not all 3 or 4 (if I include my wife's HSBC) These were my FICO scores as of July.. I haven't pulled them since the judgment rolled off and my BofA rolled off. I pulled my reports in October to verify the judgment was gone, and they didn't show the new Mortgage (Which I'd been paying on since Sept) but all of them except EQ showed the old mortgage being paid off. I disputed the account info as being incorrect, still waiting on my results. TU04: 686 Beacon5(EQ): 710 FI2(EX): 699
  7. There is more information for each entry in the printed report. You can find omissions of dates, amounts, Date of first delinquency, etc... If you read the Jack Attack dispute method, you'll see wher ethis comes in handy..
  8. Get the three free ones, but call the phone number and have them mail you copies versus using the online view.. Do not dispute it online. that just makes the CRA's job easier in 'verifying'. you want to see the printed copy first and find any errors you can use to get it off there.
  9. Hey folks. Long time no type. My 'opt out' has expired which means my Credit boards journey has turned 5 years old and my offers are showing. I've managed to get almost everything bad off my report (some late student loan payments around the time of my wedding is all that is left) and my paid judgment finally hit the 7 yr mark and faded away in October. I refinanced my house to get away from Countrywide/BofA and dropped my rate from 6 to 3.75%. I got a Discover card invite this week and decided to see if they finally got over me screwing up my sears card back in 92 and approve me this time. They did and gave me a $3k credit limit. 0% for 14 months. So now my questions: 1) Who do I try next? My other large cards are all department store cards and a Chase card I got when I was working there. Everything else is a starter with $700 or less (Orchard, Merrick, Citi, etc) I don't really care about Amex (and I'm probably still on their crap list from 10 years ago..) Do I see if Cap One has forgotten my misdeeds of 15 years ago? My score is right around 685-720ish range depending on which one gets pulled. 2) I'm thinking I'll consolidate all ther small starter cards with ugly interest rates onto the Discover and my wife's Care credit account. the fee is 3% with no cap, but since none of them are huge the fees won't be bad. Do I start closing the ones with AFs? What effect does a bunch of small limit cards have on my limits with newer, bigger banks? I wouldn't be here without this place and I push people here every chance I get. SJ
  10. JB Robinson too i believe...
  11. In my case it's the bank underwriters who are requiring me to pay a judgment on DW's CBR, even though it is due to roll off in 3 months.. ugh.. I don't mind paying it, but the guy representing the OC is a complete ding-a-ling.. can't even be courteous to someone calling to say 'I'd like to pay you'.
