  1. I'm posting for a friend of mine who got behind on his mortgage after a lay off and divorce. He finally got a loan mod in the works but today he received notice that he would have a lower payment starting in January but needed to send 1k in within 10 days for finalization. He can't do that. Can't they allow him to pay that out somehow? He keeps getting the runaround. Thanks to anyone that reads this!
  2. Thank you! Makes total sense now, guess I was caught in the "confusion of the moment!"
  3. I have a 30 year FHA mortgage that I got in May 2007 at a interest of 6.5%. My payments are about 777 with PPI taxes & insutrance combined. I have been checking with my mortgage company (Chase)and have the following offers: Each will only cost me 395 out of pocket for an application fee. A 15 year at 4.5% 880 a month payment. Pro: Can pay off earlier. Con: As a single mom with two kids that will be an extra 100 out of my budget that I am not real comfortable with. A 30 year at 4.5% with a 660 a month payment. Pro: I can continue making the 777 payment with the difference going to the principal. Con: I will lose the 3 years I have been paying. Is going for one of these smart? Supposed to give them an answer today.
  4. I currently have a FHA mortgage, 30 year fixed at 6.5%, got the mortgage in May 2007 for 85,000 and currently pay 777.00 per month. My credit has gotton much better, I am now in the 700's (all thanks to CB!) & feel I could qualify for a cheaper interest rate. I have been hearing alot about 15 year notes at 4.5% or so, but I would likely have to come up with 2,000 to 3,000 closing costs most likely right? I could do that but would rather put extra funds into emergency savings I need to have. Should I check into refinancing? or simply just try to add an extra payment a year and maybye an extra 250.00 a month towards principal? Could I get an opinion on the best way to go? I'm a single mom with two kiddos so I have to be really careful. Thanks! Struggling
  5. They pulled Equifax (714) & Exp (722) I have no baddies except a Chap 7 in 2002. No inquiries in a year and newest acct was over a year old. Be careful with them they are horribly picky. I only asked for 3K to get in the door. I'll work on CLI's now that I've got it.
  6. I can't beleive my eyes. I just app'd for the 4th time in 3 years for the cash reward card. I had always been turned down for building pyramids. Finally, today I check and see APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so expecting another denial. I think I am in shock! /THUD
  7. Thanks!
  8. I tried to search for this and had no luck. I seem to recall reading that Penfed has preapproved offers they will put on your acct homepage if you are deemed worthy? Where will those be located if you have one? When I open my acct next to the "Welcome Struggling" there are two boxes, one is E-tax statements & the other is for "Penfed Premium Travel Rewards" further down, on the right is a promotions box that has BT's, etc etc. I have tried in the past for a reward card through them and was always shot down for building pyramids. Last app was over a year ago. I have had no inquiries in the last year. Scores are all 714-722. Newest acct is over a year old. Chap 7 from 2002 still there although they never mentioned BK as a denial reason. Just really hesitant to app and have the pulls and be shot down again. Rather not gamble is the odds aren't in my favor. Any insight? Thanks! Struggling
  9. In Texas, is it likely that a collection for medical bills will sue to get a judgment? Hubby had to be hospitalized and has no insurance. I am the only income for a family of 5. Hubby signed all his own hospital papers. First hospital tried to get me to sign a promissary note & I refused to sign it. How likely will the collections show on my report? Wondering if I need a new checking acct in my name only. Need to protect my income so that we don't wind up on the street. Thanks, Struggling
  10. I am the sole provider for family. Hubby, 3 kids and I. Hubby has very bad back and neck but cannot qualify for disability due to not enough work credits. We have applied. He also got shot down for Social security because of my income. I made 48K last year but when your the only income with 3 kids to raise it doesn't go far. I carry an insurance policy on kids but can't afford to carry the whole family and pay the mortgage and the groceries too. I have indian benefits if I become ill but hubby has nothing. I work full time but even insurance through my work is absurdly high. Hubby recently was hospitalized with a bleeding ulcer requiring blood transfusions and a surgical procedure. He is much better now, thank god. I know the bills are going to be astronomical and we aren't going to be able to pay them. They have app'd him for some charity programs but I bet my income will disqualify him. So I foresee collections out the gazoo. We live in Texas, I need to try to figure out how this is going to hit us. Do I need to open a new checking acct in my name only? I have to protect our only source of income because we will be in the streets if I don't. I was careful not to sign any papers concerning his medical care. I don't know if that will protect me or not. We have even discussed whether we need to file for a legal seperation to protect the family. I have worked very hard on my credit & will be devastated if my score drops over this. Any advice? Thanks! Struggling
  11. My mother also has a 2000 CL Orchard, that CL is still intact. I closed my Orchard a year ago. Makes me paranoid thinking that my other credit cards will be hit too. But so far no changes. They must be in trouble. Thats all I can figure. Struggling
  12. Went to make an online payment for my Mom on her HSBC credit card. She had a 6,000 CL with 54.00 owed . Never late, never over the limit. No recent changes on her credit report. We logged into her acct and saw a CLD to 300.00. We payed it off and plan to close it. I had a card through them also when I first started credit repair at a 700 CL. I have kept it due to age and only have a small balance on it. They cut me to 300 also. I will be closing mine too. I have no credit changes and perfect history with them also. Don't know when they actually made the cuts because we have not received a letter. I am sure if I call they will say one is on the way. So beware if you have a HSBS account. They are definitly on the prowl and are in trouble. Just a heads up. Struggling
  13. If it were me I think I would call them and re-explain the situation and demand to have my original terms reinstated, if the CSR can't/won't help get a supervisor. Keep going till they agree to change it or your call arrives at the head CEO. I would stay on the phone until someone agreed to something. If they continue with the default rate then think seriously about dropping them. 28.99 is ridiculous. Either PIF the amount or BT it away to get it off the account and either sockdrawer the card or close it. Good luck, let us know how it turns out. I would be livid, no doubt. Just my opinion, nothing more, Struggling
  14. I called the number on the back of my WaMu card yesterday. Said I was curious as to whether my card would become a Chase card or if it would be closed. The CSR was kinda clueless really but I did manage to find out I have a letter coming & that my acct is being converted. I hope they don't jack up my rate or I will BT the balance away. It is my highest balance card so I am hesitant to close it. Taking PFICO away suxs though. Thats kinda funny, I had to BK Chase in 2002. I applied for a Freedom last year and was told no, no, no. However they bought my mortgage in 2007 from the company that got me approved for it. So now evidently I have a Chase card. Wonder if I can get that Freedom in a year or too? Weird overall but oh well........ Struggling
