  1. hmmmm, so basically they won? They need to somebody to REALLY take them to the cleaners! :-)
  2. It's really disturbing how EWS operates. When I faxed them their request form last year, they called me the next day questioning where I got the form because they had no record of any contact with me. Then they sent my report and I found out that I had one record with them. When I wrote a dispute letter it came back as verified (no documentation or anything). I called them up to speak with them and inform them they are in violation of the FCRA since they are a consumer reporting agency, they informed me that they are NOT a Consumer/Credit agency and not bound by the FCRA. I was furious, and even spoke with a "supervisor" who claimed the same. I have never gotten the item they list on my report removed, even after 2 more request for validations and a complaint with the attorney general. I would really like to know how they get away with this!
  3. In case everyone doesn't already know DCU (Digital Federal Union) has changed drastically. They used to be so nice and helpful, but in Feb they shut down thousands of their members credit cards. Even many employees of DCU had their cards revoked. In my case, I've been with DCU for over 6 years, have my full direct deposit of over $2000 every two weeks deposited into my checking. When I joined, they were so good I ditched my Bank and made them my primary banking institution almost from the beginning of becoming a member. My FICO is in the low 700s (that is until they "revoked my Visa Gold Card).....without any explanation, and I'm not the only one by far. It seems they changed their guidelines but refused to tell me what those were). I (as well as many others) asked for reconsideration but they refused to budge at all. I believe this is just the start of the downfall of DCU. I have already started moving my funds out (to my employers CU) and then will cancel my membership. This is just a heads up for those of you thinking about joining this now unfriendly credit union.
  4. The exact same thing happened to me. I've been with them for over 6 years and have my entire direct deposit going to them. I called and the guy wouldn't budge and really didnt offer much of an explaintion except to contact Equifax, and that blancepro crap. I changed my direct deposit last night and am leaving them (unless of couse they change their mind).......has anyone that had this happen to them been able to get them to re open the account??
  5. Hi powers64! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SUCH a fast response!! B
  6. OK, so I live alone and was involved in a car accident, was in the hospital for almost a month. I got behind 60 days on several of my credit cards: 2 Cap ones Barclay's Sea Miles WauMu Target Charge and 2 of my credit union accounts I have since paid every account MORE than the minimum payments to bring each account current, and they are all current now. Cap One even gave me $100 credit per card for bringing the accounts current over the phone once I was able to start calling and making payments over the phone. I am having problems with Wamu, target, and Barclay's. They wont give me any sanctions. They wont even lower the APR's which they raised (and believe me, they raised them from A LOT) depending on which card: 9%, 20% (Target) to between 14% to about 30ish% None of them will budge on the APR's or refunding any late fees. Now after all the med bills, I'm struggling (but am managing) to pay the accounts each month. Does anyone have any suggestions/tactics to talk to them about this or write the proper letter to get either the APRs lowered and or at least some of the lates refunded? I have been current on all accounts for over two months now but the high APRs are hurting BIG time. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! B
  7. ok, I take the hint, no more words of wisdom for me
  8. Going back to my original question when I started this thread, has anyone done what I am getting prepared to do? Would anyone be so kind as to post a "step by step" My goal here is to: Revive my Delaware corp I started in 1999 that never got off the ground and never had any revenue I'll keep the same name, and would like to establish a DUNS number without it negatively impacting the corp (I never did when I started the corp in 1999). Just some background: I got a local business license, and a federal EIN, BUT I never got a state of VA tax ID, nor did I establish it as a foreign corp in VA. I never ended up doing any business with the corp (some personal issues came up and finally I just abandoned the corp and focused on my day job). I understand I'll have to pay back taxes and maybe a pay an money to the FTB. I've never heard of paying an FTB fee, can someone clarify this? One last thing. I am reading a lot about NOT using virtual offices now. I have read about people just using their home address. Wont using your home address link any credit you get with your personal credit file? Thanks in advance! Happy New Year! Brian
  9. Hello get Thanks for the info. The FTB is what? Franchise something? So you only had to pay DE $25 in taxes?? What about federal taxes? Also, in my case, I never even established a number with D&B, would that automatically mean I don't have a file with them until I apply? THANKS! ---B
  10. CD.....Great info. Thanks again for all the updates. I do have one concern now. Since I'll have to be running my IT Consulting biz out of my home (at least for the first year) I was thinking of doing what many others have reported doing........getting a virtual office, one that provides a physical address, mail forwarding, telephone answering, receptionists and much more. Here is an example of what I am looking at: http://www.americanvoicemail.com/virtualof...alexandria.html Is this solution a no no? Should I seek out office space elsewhere (that is if I can swing the rent)?
  11. It would be a great learning experience if anyone has accomplished the below successfully. Although I don't necessary need to re name my inactive corp, I certainly would like to. I have came up with possible better names at this point, but if it will cause me trouble with D&B, obtaining net 30s etc. I have no problem keeping the original name. Anyone out there accomplished a name change without any trouble D&B wise? "I'm in the same situation; I never had a DUNs; so when I build it, will the fact I am doing so with a reinstated DE corp with a new name make a difference, i.e. I'm not changing a D&B file just setting up one with a DE corp with a changed name?"
  12. Cool then! The corp I formed back in 1999 never had a DUNS, I never even called them, I wont be changing the name my corp, the name of the corp is IT Consulting related. Now I'm only concerned about any adverse action for not filing any paperwork with the state after I had the initial charter. From what I can tell this wont be a problem as long as I pay all the fees and pay any back taxes that may be owed (although I'm still not clear about how I the corp would owe any taxes since it never got off the ground in the first place. I thank you very much for all of your help on this. One more question though........Should I use the original fed EIN or request a new one? Thanks much! B
  13. ChineseDemocracy: Isn't one of our most important goals of reviving a corp to be able to obtain accounts (net 30s, as well as dell, bank lines etc?). I've read about going about it the wrong way can give you a bad DUNS, thus shying away creditors. I know in my case the appeal of paying the money to revive my 1999 inactive Delaware corp is to use the age as leverage to help obtaining credit in order to fund my corp's needs. If DUNS flags a corp wont that pretty much blacklist one from most creditors??? I've also read posts of problems using your virtual addresses??? Does this really happen? In my case I'll having a home office, so I will need a virtual address with mail forwarding. Your insight will be much appreciated! B Not so much with DNB as with Creditors. I was told they frown upon that and might be a reason to deny application for credit. Keep the business name be sure to buy a decent shelf corp with a good name.
  14. Not sure about the rest, but I've always heard that changing the name of the corp is a no no as fas as DUNS goes. Can anyone advise on this? ChineseDemocracy, were you able to retain the original Date of Incorporation when you set up your D&B file. Do you have any suggestions for doing so? I called DE they said I needed the renew/void $104 and Franchise for some reason said *just* 2002 Annual Report and $245 fee and $30 fore Certificate of Good Standingl. In my case I also need to get an RA in New York and do a name change (as the original name is not available) At that point I thought I'd contact D&B but want to present info so they don't use new name/renewal as an excuse to re-age.
