  1. My BK discharged 9/11 and I was approved for a Target card 10/11. I visited Target @ least 2x/week during this time paying for my purchases with my bank card when I received the preapproval. $800 limit. At the tIme, my only other card was Firestone with $900 limit.
  2. I'm pretty sure it increases your odds. I know someone who started with the Target debit card, used it 2 or 3 times a month and going on the third month received a preapproval at the register $1000 with scores in the mid 500s. Whereas I used a credit card or my bank's debit card 3 or 4x a week for maybe a month, received a $700 preapproval, 6 weeks post Ch7 discharge. (I work less than a mile from Target so I would stop in for Starbucks or popcorn for lunch). Scores around 631

I use both USAA and Smart Credit and the count is off but I have noticed that USAA counts multiple inquiries by the same lender as one inquiry instead of individually but they are listed in the inquiry section
  4. I spoke with an Account Specialist regarding the same issue as I applied online for both Kohls/ Cap1 at same time and both applications kicked out as having "could not be processed due to application already on file". The Acct Specialist stated that only 1 application for any product is allowed every 45 days. The waiting process starts over for every additional application submitted. He provided my application dates on file and the date the system would accept a new application.

  7. I made a payment in store last month. It takes 2- 3 days to post to your account depending on the time of day you pay. However, the payment date is the day you actually pay. I made the payment on a Monday about 445 CST and the balance was available on Wednesday. I have learned the online pay works better for me.
  8. I had a 20k card that I stopped paying around the 6mth mark, they offered a 4k settlement based on their hardship program (asked mthly income/expenses) payable in 3 mths that re-aged the account after payment.

  10. Sorry to hear about your denial. The first CC i applied for was the Platinum card, I was denied stating the same thing; however, I recon'd via the application link pretty much stating the same thing hadn't been delinquent in a couple of years, etc and was approved a day or so later with a 7500 limit and then 2 weeks later for the Rewards Visa 2500 limit. Unless it's a new policy I was unaware that you could recon over the phone I was always told it goes back to the Credit Committee. Perhaps, you should try written correspondence for an effective response.
  11. I opened an auto loan with them also Sept 09. I spoke with a CSR re: combining my loans (debt consolidation/ auto) to lower the interest or possibly refinancing the auto loan for a lower rate. She advised that NFCU DOES NOT refinance their existing auto loans; however, I could take a chance of applying for the personal/debt consolidation loan to combine my existing loans and explain my intentions. I verified this info with a local bank officer and he agreed with CSR.
  12. I started the program 10/09. The CSR informed me that I would have to make 3 on time consecutive pymts and the lates would be removed. I noticed the lates were removed after my third pymt in the early part of January and I it was removed from my credit report. Now, this was a business acct w/ 20k acct balance that started reporting to my personal credit in 09/09. After the third payment, I questioned about a settlement and was offered 4k with the three prior pymts being applied and the remainder paid over 3mth. Preparing to make last pymt next week.
  13. It's still a debit card and will take money out of your account immediately. I'm not sure if that's correct because let's say I went to a gas station with any check card. If I put in my PIN number the money is taken out automatically, but if I select credit it doesn't show up for 2-3 days. Most debit cards shows gas station transactions as $1.00 pending for several days regardless of credit or debit option. I can say I have experienced this with BOA/ Regions/ Trustmark & NFCU. But you can only use NFCU as credit option for your transactions.
  14. I haven't had tha issue, the funds are taken immediately with store purchase, it appears as pending in the account and those funds are deducted from the available funds.
  15. just check on your school's website re: financial aid policies...... but make sure you have passed the 60% or 75% deadline date.... If you call, ask about Title IV form they may need your authorization on record......
