My local CU told me Id be approved for a 10k visa CC, and they would take the whole CL and deposit into my account to use as I want...but 15k is not gonna happen... I figured since they'd give me 10k, someone else might give me 15...ahh well, I may try somewhere like PenFed and see what they give me anyway, just for kicks and giggles...whats the worse that can happen...I get another card with a decent CL? Im game...this time last year I had a 512 FICO and a high CL of $500...so Ive definitely come a long way....

KDS, may I ask what income bracket you're in?
-
Ok then, back to the original question -- anyone know a CU that would give a 15k personal loan if I have a co-signor?
-
I did not. I DO have a co-signor if needed though. After thinking about it, a 15k card with 5k available in cash would do the trick. I'm thinking maybe try to get one of the Federal CU cards with the hope of a 15k limit...any idea how much cash is usually available on a cc with that size CL?

Hey all Wondering what would be a good CU to join in order to try and get a 15k personal loan ? I am a member of a local CU, but they only do personal loans up to 10k. I have a co-signor if needed, my real FICOs are EQ (748) and TU (780). I make almost 30k a year. I have one baddie on all 3 reports (a 30 day late CC payment from 3 years ago, Crap1, they refuse to delete), and my main credit card limits are 5000, 3000, and 2500. My current total CC balance is 2k, which I plan to pay off with part of the loan (home improvement is the main loan purpose - my fiance owns the house, so I am classified as a renter at this point). Revolvings are the only TLs I have on my reports. Any chance I could get this size loan? If so, where should I try?

Its not expired, I just used it...the first time I entered it it said expired...I tried it again and it went through.

You dont need it if you sign up here: http://www.bbt.com/bbt/privacymatters/

Wow, I just got a citi platinum select last week. Maybe I should just cancel it now and avoid the hit to my AAOA? If I was to cancel it, would it still show as a new account on my CR even though I havent used the card yet?
-
Why risk it for $.06? If it WAS to show up as late on your report(s), wouldnt you have rather just paid it? Just my $.02 (paid in full, of course )

Ive tried two GWs to Cap1 for a 30 day late from 1.5 years ago. First attempt was late last year to the regular address and then I tried an email to CEO Richard Fairbank last week. I just got a denial letter in the mail today. Im doubting they will be removed, they are sending me copies of the statements from the months in question (again). Maybe ill try another next month. God I hate cap1. Oh well, Ill never use that crap card again anyway, it just irks me that they always say they report correctly, cant change correct info, blah blah blah, yet they do for certain people and not for others.

The WalMart and JCPenny are both regular store cards. The WalMart card isnt my oldest, I have 2 credit cards that were opened in 1994. I may just use the WalMart card for a purchase or 2 per month and PIF, maybe Ill get a CLI with regular use.. The JCPenny card I have no use for, should I go ahead and close it? I have no idea what they mean by "Ratio of open bank revolving TRD to total bank revolving TRD too high" though.

Got my denial letter in the mail today from Discover, and dont know what one of the reasons means exactly: Ratio of open bank revolving TRD to total bank revolving TRD too high Can someone explain this to me? The other 2 reasons: Insufficient number of satisfactory trades (I have 7 positive tradelines listed on EX (8 on TU), and 2 of them are pretty much inactive accounts (JCPenny and Wal Mart store cards each with a $100 limit because I havent used them in years) Past and/or present delinquent credit obligations (a single 30 day late to Cap1 from a year and a half ago, Im trying to get a GW removal) Then they list one of the steps I can take for a future approval: Close any unused or unecessary accounts Should I close the WalMart and JCPenny accounts? The WalMart account was opened in 2000, and the JCPenny in 2005, but I never use them and dont plan to.

Cap1 seems to be real hard to deal with regarding GWs, but some people DO have success in getting lates off their report. There was a thread about somneone getting a cap1 CO removed, bt I think they were reporting incorrectly. Do a search with "cap1" in the title. My goodwill got denied a few months ago for a 30-day late from a year and a half ago, I just sent my 2nd attempt before the weekend. I think its worth a shot, the worst they can do is say no.

Dayum, thats awesome! Can I ask, what kind of CLs are you getting on those new TLs?
-
Yup. When I first checked my reports last October, I saw 2 accounts (credit cards) that I opened in 1994....I apparently stopped using the cards a few years later and just cut them up but never closed the account. I had no idea those accounts were still "open". So now those TLs are over 15 years old, helping my AAOA big time.
