Okay, I have a couple of questions regarding Direct Loans through the USDE. DH let his loans go after he left school without paying.

We got an economic hardship forbearance on them WITHOUT rehabbing them. Then, after about a year, we got a deferment for military duty. This is where we currently are with the process.

The 120 lates WERE just reporting on TU. I disputed them last week and today, they are showing on EX and EQ as well.

Here is my question:

Is it possible to begin rehabbing them now, even though they are in deferment? I would like to get the negative notations removed from the CR, so it is my understanding that rehab would be the only way to do this. Whom should I contact in order to set this up (just a CSR at DL or someone else)?

Thanks!

As Lynn said, rehab is only for loans that are in default. Have you tried other options, such as writing a goodwill letter to the lender? Posters here have had some success with that route, so it's worth a shot. :)
