Ok, so I disputed an account with Credit Protection Associates they claimed to be collecting for Comcast but I've never been late or had an issue with my Comcast account. When I first noticed them on my report I called Comcast and they agreed so I disputed the account with all three CRA and it was deleted. I just got an email letting me know the status of my dispute was ready on EQ do I checked it and it says the account has been verified and now it's back on my report. I saved the original notification that the account had been deleted. Should I just send that to EQ and tell them to delete it again? They never notified me of the reinsertion. They also put ALL of my old address back on my report. I am so pissed!! My score dropped 10 points :(

If your 100% positive that your completely up to date with Comcast and there is not possibility this is yours. I'd get as much info from the CA as possible hopefully the original Comcast account # and then call Comcast and make them fix it. They probably wont be super helpful at first and the front line CSR's probably can't do much, but if you can get Comcast to tell the CA they got the wrong guy its more likely to go away for good that way.

Also did the CA actually provide validation?? Or anything besides the name of the OC?? I'm sure CA's get the "You got the wrong guy" all the time, but you might be able to send them a recent Comcast bill that shows your current...? Not sure what other people around here might think about that??? but to me if you've got nothing to hide why the heck not.

I am more than 100% positive that I don't owe them a thing. The collection says high balance 72 bucks. Amount due is zero because I always paid my cable bill on time. I think they must have accidentally sent my account to collections or something. I've never gotten a letter or a phone call from credit protection either. Oh well, I'm going to dispute it with EQ again and call comcast. I really need this account off my reports. I'm so close to having them 'clean'

Well I'd recommend getting Comcast to straighten it out, they should be able too. Front line CSR's probably wont be able to do much you'll need to speak with someone higher up the chain a bit. I'd recomend trying to get into touch with their executive relations team/department most companies have these and have the power to get things done pretty easily. Ultimately even if there is no balance if Comcast is able to squash it its more likely to be gone for ever and you'll never have to worry about it showing up down the road.
