Hello!!

I just recently discovered a collections account on my CR after signing up for a credit monitoring service. I was unaware of this debt, and think it may be related to a traffic ticket that I disputed in court, paid the fine and never heard from again.

I'm brand new to Credit Boards. Please direct me to the correct place to post! I am familiar with all of the basics of credit repair, and want to begin to Validate and fix this account from the past.

Thanks for all the information posted here!

Welcome to CreditBoards! We hope that you find what you're looking for here.

Some helpful tips:

  • Your post may not get a reply right away. Don't be discouraged, this is a very busy board. If it falls off of the first page, feel free
to reply to your post yourself, with the word *bump* in the text. This will *bump* your post back up to the top of the board.
  • If you haven't yet, take a peek at out Newbies Section.
Everything that you need to know is in that forum, for the most part! It's a lot of reading, we know, but this credit stuff can have a steep learning curve. In no time, you'll be posting like the pros!
  • If you find that someone is discourteous to you, use the REPORT button at the bottom of every post - that will ensure that a moderator or admin looks at the post and decides if it is against the TOS.
  • Off -topic posts should go in the General Forum.

Again, welcome to the CreditBoards family!

This is the correct forum, sorry it took so long to get you an answer. May I ask which of the CRA's is reporting this? EXP, EQ, TU, or more than one of them?

Sometimes you can dispute these directly with each CRA and they drop off. You may want to look at this thread:

Click here This thread describes a two step process for getting your derogs: delete the old addresses from the CR, then dispute with the CRA's.

THANKS!!! The 'collections' account is showing up on EXP. I just pulled my credit report prior to replying to you, and it shows no collections whatsoever. I am assusming that is a 'Win' for me, but do I need to continue to monitor that this collection does not reappear?

On another topic, I have a home that is currently VERY delinquent on the mortgage. Chase Bank has sent the HELOC second mortgage to another department and reported it as a 'CHARGE OFF' on my CR. Where should I post to get questions answered on this topic?

who is the collections with?

The collections WAS with EX, but does not show on my latest credit report. It still shows up on my credit monitoring service as a previous negative, but the CR no longer shows the collections with any of the agencies.

Working to find info on the 'charge off' now...
