I opened my first private student loan last fall and I have a quick question about others' experiences.

My account was opened with Chase in November 2008 and I put down an expected graduation date of Fall 09' (When I will graduate)

However, since my application and submitting of my class schedule (fall 08' only) I have had no more contact with them whatsoever. When I log into chase.com it says

Principal Balance $xx,xxx
Last Payment Date
Last Payment Amount $0.00
Next Payment Date 07/07/2012
Total Amount Due $0.00

Payment Summary

Current Amount Due $0.00
Past Amount Due $0.00
Late Charges Due $0.00
Total Amount Due $0.00

Does this really mean I don't have any payments due until 2012? I haven't given them any paperwork showing that I was enrolled in the spring (which I have and can easily prove).

Are they proactive in contacting the school to ensure you are enrolled? Have you had to provide paperwork each semester to your student loan company? Did they contact you asking for such?
