About a month ago I fully paid off a defaulted student loan so I could start going back to school. I was told it'd take about 3-4 weeks for the default to go away. I've been checking my status at https://www.nslds.ed.gov/ once a week and it still shows I'm in default. How long does it take for it to be lifted so that I can get finacial aid again?

Call the CA or better yet, the guarantor you paid off.
