Financial AId Delay? Five weeks into school, no aid processed yet...

I have been calling and calling the school in regards to why they havent processed my fianncial aid yet. They say its because they are updating their systems, and are having tech dificulties. Last week they said it would be in, and now I get a follow up email saying it still isnt done yet and will be finished next week. I am five weeks into school today, and 10 weeks to go before I grad. I need to know whether my financial aid will cover me before my next accelerated class starts.

Then I heard a coworker say his friends son is having trouble getting student loans for school due to the economy....

 

Is anyone elses financial aid not procesed yet? Is the system problem a lack of funds? Will this hurt my grants? Or is my school just stupid, or is AES having financial problems with fed loans.... and should have been processed everything by now?

A friend who is graduating this fall was waiting and waiting, only to find out because he didn't apply for graduation, they assumed his loan request was for two semesters. He did see that his tuition was covered, but never got the extra money for books and such. He promptly applied for graduation and they funded the rest a few days later.

It sounds like an issue on your school's end, however, you can always contact AES to verify if they transmitted the funds to your school and when. Then, armed with that information, personally go to the financial aid office and sort it out.

Thats tghe probelm I dont think they have even transmitted the loan request to AES yet. Usally when they have I can log into AESSUCSSESS website and click on Application status or soemthing, and see that they submitted it, and what stage it is at in the process of funding, and the exact dates it will be disbursed. But they obvisouly havent done it yet, because there is nothing on AES's side that says they have done the paperwork.

 

 

I think that if by Monday this isnt sorted out I am going to the Dean to complain.

I had the same issue this semester. I finally got a hold of my financial aid advisor and some of the lenders are late disbursing payments. I am staying on her until I get notification back that my loan was disbursed and tuition is paid.

My daughter's has not yet been processed. Financial Aid office is saying it's the lenders who haven't yet made payment. She also has some scholarships that have been deposited, but not paid. Don't know what that means, but that's what they're telling us ...

Yesterday I logged onto AES and saw that the loans were processed and approved, and will be disbursed on 11/10/08. So I emailed them and thanked them for finally getting everything processed, and also asked what my grant status was and she emailed and told me.

 

So if you add in my $200 graduation fee into the bill, I will have to put out all together $400 to leave school without a bill. And I guess next year I will start makign payments to the loans.
