It seems that in reality due to the "inconsistancy" of auto dealers not doing your research prior to car shopping can cost you. Monday, I go to the Infiniti dealership and negotiate to buy a RWD Infiniti for $500 over invoice. The con artist, I mean "salesman", Im working with explains that due to them just getting the vehicle in that the invoice is still being processed by their accounting dept so he has to show me the invoice of a similar car. Now the only thing that saved me from getting screwed was I know the invoice price for this car is $27263. Funny thing is that the price on the invoice he showed me was $28887 which is coincidentally :wink: the invoice price of the AWD version. I immediately question the guy about the difference and he lies to my face and says this is the invoice for a RWD vehicle. The problem with Infiniti's invoices is they dont specify what trim the car is they all say G35 and then list the options. Luckily for me I needed to use his computer to get my insurance policy information. So why he was probably high fiving his co-workers over the deal he just made, I take it upon myself to go on KBB.com and pull up the invoice price. He comes back and I show him this and he totally loses his composure and gets defensive, he says it must be due to them not including destination charge or subtracting out holdback. He then goes off to talk to his GM I guess to help him come up with a better lie and later comes back and says that the difference is due to the bose cd player the vehicle has. Problem is the price of this was built into the Option package on the car so this right here told me he was lying.

Good post. I had a similar situation the past few days while

negotiating coincidently with 3 different Infiniti dealers. I have to say the

sales people I were dealing with were not sneaky however. They were all

pretty upfront considering. I basically told them I wasn't going to haggle and go back and forth, and play games.

 

I said:

 

I'm dealing with you and 2 other dealers.

 

This is the car/color/options I want.

 

This is what I will pay.

 

It has to be in stock or available by the weekend.

 

Whoever gives me this price the fastest (or the closest that I would accept-but I didn't say that), I will buy from period.

 

Long story short: One dealer gave me the EXACT price I wanted (invoice) in 10 mins. HOWEVER, when I told them I was coming in with a check fom Captial One, they started hemming and hawing, saying they would have to deposit the check and I would have to wait until next week to pick up the car once it cleared, etc.

 

Dealer #2 called, and said the check was good with them, and after they called Cap One to confirm funds, I could drive away no problem. While I was on the phone, I curiosly asked if there were any pre-owned or 03 leftovers. Turns out they had an 03 with 3000 miles on it. I ended up buying that one for $17k below MSRP! They hadn't even listed it for sale on the net, or even detailed the car in a while. They then proceeded to beat the rate Cap One was offering, so in the end everyone won. I'm picking it up tonight and I will update as to smoothness or any hang ups in the transaction.

The smoothest most pleasurable car buying experience I EVER had!

I am getting screwed royally on trying to buy out my Toyota lease. I have 30 days until maturity and really want to keep the darn thing. Problem is, two dealers so far have given me the bum's rush....they don't want to write paper for nothing and this deal would net them a big zero in the profit column. They don't own the vehicle, Toyota Financial does....so financing me would get them zip.

 

They did the hard sell on the new vehicles and/or a new lease. Guy got PO'd when I said, no thanks, I want to keep my ride and buy it out just like my contract entitles me to. He couldn't ditch me fast enough.

 

Cooled my heels for 20 minutes before another guy said it would be 4 hours before an F & I guy could do the paperwork...jerks!

 

So, I leave and return the next morning when they open, just like they asked me to...I'm gullible. They pull the credit, then give me a song and dance about having to talk to Toyota Lease first before they can do anything. I'm still waiting for the callback :lol:

 

 

Does anyone know of a reputable Toyota dealership in the Northern VA/DC area????

my wife and I bought a used toyota sienna from Bill Page toyota in Falls church VA. We bought it through Mr Ali Sami. I would buy from him again. please send me an email if you want/need any help. Google them and youll find their site.
