Hello, I have a joint collection acct reported 08/01/2006 for $229 that was for a child my ex had physical custody of. I didn't pay it, as she was supposed to. Ann Arbor Credit Burea sent us both a notice. ....Not knowing any better, I paid the collection just to get it off my report as I was soon applying for a refinance. Soon after, I sent in a letter to dispute it and from memory they said, my paying was admitting to being responsible. Current remarks are [TransUnion] Account information disputed by consumer, meets FCRA requirements ...[Experian] Customer disputed account - reported by subscriber. .....[Equifax] Consumer disputes this account information Medical.

Is there anything I can do? This is the only negative acct I have, no delinquents. My score is fighting to stay above 690 occasionally passing 700.

Thanks in advance

1) You need to opt out. Goto this website and optout.

2) Dispute any old addresses with the CRA's.

3) Send the pre-hipaa dispute letter to each CRA. Whychat has the exact template to use here Don't over look this step!

Once you get the investigation results back from any CRA that is reporting the medical collection, we can take it from there.

Keep all information in one post. I will post a link that was the entire process and more information. Hopefully you are not toast!
