Can collections collect on student loans that are 10 years old?

Hi,

I received a letter from a collection agency that is claiming that I owe $2000 for a school loan that was taken out while I was in school over 10 years ago. Currently I am paying my school loan and never heard of this one.

I just wanted to know are they allowed to collect on somethiant that old?

Oh yeah...there is no SOL on educational debt whether it be loans or school tuition accounts. Find out more info on it...what type, original amount and current balance. Be aware that the balance has probably more than doubled due to late fees, interest and collection costs.
