--A little history about this problem--

I was enrolled in ITT Tech school in Ohio... When I found my work schedule conflicted with the school schedule I had to withdraw. This was only about 2 weeks after the start of the year. After I withdrew, ITT gave back all of the money to my Sallie Mae loans (as shows on my reports). I thought everything was a-ok per the stuff they told me during the withdraw conversations.

--Now the problem its self--

Except.... then they post about $1800 of collections to my report also. NONE of which I had ever been notified of, as I was told that I withdrew in the "allowed" time period. I only found this out after pulling my credit reports about 3-4 years later. So, I contacted ITT... they stated they have no information on collection accounts that old.

So, finally I just decided to dispute the item in question as inaccurate. Experian had no problem with this and removed the item about 30 days later, never to return since. However, all TransUnion has to say on my report is "Account information disputed by consumer, meets FCRA requirements". I am unaware of how this information appeared on the TU report as I never disputed it with them, since I could never get their online dispute to work at the time.

So my question is.... How should I fix this? The collections company is just like... "Pay all or we continue to report it". ITT is of no help at all. And, TU may/may not remove this time as I have disputed it again. I am also unsure if they have just "supported" their old result, as one of my disputes in the "current status" list is completed and nothing else has changed in my report. Nor do the status results show ANYTHING at all when I try to figure out what item is completed (is showing 1 of 6 items complete).

I googled ITT and read there withdrawal policy. It appears that you are only entitled to a full refund if you withdraw by the 5th day of the program. Your aid was returned but that still leaves you with a balance. What I read said that you are responsible for 25% of the balance.

Yeah... they told me when I withdrew it was 5 class days. I withdrew at the beginning of the second week, ie after 3 days of class. Also, I was only able to attend 1 day of class... such is why I canceled.

On another note... $1800 is not 25% of anything I can think of. They also had several $1000's in federal aid that was given to me and I have no idea what happened to that.

Have you checked with the student loan locator to check that your loans had been returned?? http://www.nslc.org/ You should be able to see all the debits and credits. Also, did ITT give you any cash out of your loans or grants??

I got nothing from ITT and they specifically told me "everything would be taken care of by them" when I left.

As for the loan tracker:

Loan holder information not available for this student

and

Guaranty agency information not available for this student.
