Sallie sent my loans to a local lawyer who I contacted and arranged to pay $150 a month. I sent the first payment and then emailed the lawyer asking if I would get an invoice or something showing my balance. He replied with "This is not JC Penny, we don't give receipts" that's the first time I have ever heard of not getting a receipt. My question is this, how can I get my account transferred back to sallie or even the collection agency?? I mean I can't continue blindly sending money to someone who can't even show me an account balance. Any advice? (Already called the collection agency and they just referred me back to the lawyer)

I am assuming this is a private loan you have defaulted on. Once you default, your loan balance is accelerated and is due in full. There is no requirement for them to send monthly statements or receipts. SM won't take it back either....more than likely there is a contract in place with the CA/attorney and Sallie Mae. You cancelled check is your receipt, so keep tract of them. Check on your balance every 6 months or so.
