ECMC Duplicate Tradelines

ECMC is on my EQ report four times when it should be only two times. The account balances and numbers are almost identical except for the name. One is Bank-One the other is Chase JP Morgan. I have sent letters, an email and called twice with no results. On the phone ECMC transfer's me to the collections department and they have hung up on me once and the other time the rep was unable to help me. Now I am currently in rehab for this but having this on my EQ report twice is quite damaging. Anybody have a good contact or course of action I need to use. TIA.

Buggers were fast. Here is the response I received the next day.

 

Dear Leatherneck,

 

Thank you for contacting the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid, Office of the Ombudsman. You have concerns about entries on your credit report.

 

Your National Student Loan Data System record shows you received two Stafford loans. The loans were orignally issued by Bank One and then later sold to JPMorgan/Sallie Mae. At the time of sale, Bank One should have notifed the credit bureaus of the transfer. If that wasn't updated, the best option is to write a dispute letter to the credit bureaus.

I replied to him stating that I had already disputed this twice. Guess I need to include a copy of this when I dispute with Equifax? Any thoughts on this?

Well the ombudsman office never replied back but I did send off a "plea" for help to ECMC in the form of a letter. I included a copy of the ombudsman email and my eq credit report. Got a call the day after they received it from a very nice lady who confirmed that there was an error. She talked with EQ and sent in a request for it to be deleted. This was Thursday that I talked with her. She is going to send me a letter as well! I pulled TC today and it has been corrected! That is a 9k derog off of my EQ report!
