Are you wanting to pay the full amount to the OC or try to pay the CA with a reduced the amount? (plus deletion either way)

Have you opted out and updated your personal info on your reports?

If you are wanting to pay the OC, I would recommend going to Why Chat's site and reading his HIPAA page.

When dealing with HIPAA, do not have any further contact with the CA. You would send the HIPAA letter using [insert a ] along with your payment. Also, you would send the CRA letter (at the bottom of that page) to the CRA's concerning the CA's TL.

You will need to follow all of the steps listed and utilize all of the follow up letters. Using HIPAA, you are also requesting that the OC recall the account from the CA, the CA delete anything in their own files and any TL they have placed on your reports.

If you would rather try and deal with the CA, you might look in the Sample Letter Forum for PFD letters. I would also recommend that you do a search on PFD in this Forum and the regular Credit Forum and do some reading on how others have done theirs. I would also suggest doing a search on the CA that you are dealing with, see if they are generally difficult to work with.

I would suggest that you do alot of reading before you decide which way to go. Keep in mind if you decide to try to deal with the CA using a PFD and they don't go for it, you probably will not have any HIPAA protection if you should decide to switch to using HIPAA.

Read, read and read some more.

The above is my opinion
