Medical bills I still owe on, within SOL

Just when i feel like im starting to understand things i go to the medical boards forum.

 

I understand i cant send the hippa letter on medical collections if you still owe them.

 

I have two medical bills i owe on. One is sent to Transworld Systems and another to Beecher, field, walker, Morris, Hoffman and Johnson....(good grief, shorten the name up already) for collections. They are legitimate debts but I cant afford to pay them right now, at all. We are basically in survival mode for a few months. So should I just send a regular DV letter to the collection agencys to basically buy me some time for paying them?

My parents are in the same position. My mother just called me freaking out that a collection agency called her today about three medical bills. I'm on here now trying to get some info. They can't use the HIPAA letter as they don't have the money to pay them. Total of all three bills is about $1400.

I owe 881.91 on one and 138.58 on another.
