Like many of the others here I got a shock when I applied for a loan and there was a collection on my credit report.

I contacted the OC but they kept transferring my calls to the CA.

When I spoke with the CA they told me a amount, and I told them I never received notice and to send me a statement.

The CA sent me a letter with information on it. I verifyed this information with my Insurance Carrier.

I have not since spoken to the CA or disputed the bill. I did pay the OC at the hospital for the full amount of the original bill. I have a receipt that says paid in full.

After finding this site, I realize I could have done stuff differently.

Any suggestions?

If you paid the OC, you can still go through the HIPAA process.

Look at Why Chat's site and follow the steps EXACTLY...........starting with the medical dispute to the CRA.

When you send the HIPAA letter to the healthcare provider, use ( insert b ) since the account has already been paid.
