Is it possible for me to remove Paid Medical Collection Accounts off my Credit reports. If so can you explain to me in detail on what I need to do. Or should I let them fall off. Ones scheduled to come off next Dec and the other in 2009. They both say PAID in full.

I am wondering the same thing. I have a medical collection on my credit report and the status is "Paid, Closed/Collection account. I paid this off in January 2003, which is also the date of their last report.

Can I have this removed?

It depends on who was paid, the OC or the CA. If the OC was paid then you can do the HIPAA process but if the CA was paid then you may just need to dispute with the CRA's.

Sorry to intrude on this post with another question, but what if you pay the OC and they just forward it to the CA?

If you sent the certified check or money order where your name and address are CLEARLY printed on the remittance, that it is made to the order of THE ORIGINAL HEALTH CARE PROVIDER, and that you print or type clearly in the endorsement section "For Deposit Only to the Account of (name of H.C. provider) as per Whychat's instruction, you can still continue with the HIPAA process even if the OC forwarded it BECAUSE YOU paid the OC not CA.

Search under my handle in medical collections for my thread. It works!

You could also read the sticky up top regarding WhyChat's process. Make sure to pay special attention to the Medical Dispute letter for CRA's for starters :good:

goku,

I've had one removed just by writing to the hospital. I didn't think it would do much good -and maybe I just got lucky-but I was following the advice of my sister who used to work for one of the evil CRAs. She told me try a nice letter first before pulling out the big guns. I've since gotten down to a 3 stubborn collections, a bk that will be removed in March 07 and I'm done being nice. :dntknw: The remaining ones I will have to pay to get removed, but I'm determined that if/when I do pay them that they will be deleted. I also highly recommend reading whychat's informational page. It has helped me out tremendously in getting deletions.

You can try asking the CA to have it removed. That's what I did. I was dealing with a total of 4 different CA's all related to past unpaid medical bills. All, but 1, agreed to have it removed. I still have to wait and see if it really happens, but the account representatives assured me that they would assist me in the process.

The CA that would not remove is for $50. I'm hoping that it won't hurt my credit too much. Once I see the other 3 CA's remove listings from my credit report, I'm going to try and call that CA again and hopefully get them to do the same.

wow 3/4 CAs agreed to delete? IMO thats really good. Care to post the letter you were sending?

I was only told that I had to write a letter to one of the CA. I still have to get to that. I had misplaced the address and only found it today. I was told by my account rep. at the time that I just had to mail something to their ofc in writing requesting to have it removed since the account was paid in full and that they had never made any contact with me. I'm the one that actually searched them out when I pulled my CR. This is before I knew about CB. I probably would have done things a lot differently, but it's okay. Everything seems to be working out so far. I did dispute this account with Experian, and it was removed.

I happened to be talking to another CA about 2 seperate collections listed from their agency. I just instinctively asked her if there was any way that they could be removed. The rep was very nice and said that as soon as the account was paid in full that she would not have any problem doing that since they had never made any contact with me. I'm almost done with the payments. I already started, might as well finish.

Since I was having such good luck, I called the rep from the CA that I had just finished paying off. They also have to collections listed on my report as paid in full. The rep said that it wouldn't be a problem but that it's the CRA that usually takes awhile to process it. I actually just received a letter today stating that they had already requested to have them removed from Experian and Transunion. I'm going to make a call to the rep on Monday to inquire why Equifax was not included.

As for the last paid collections account. I'm also going to try to call again and see if another rep might be more willing to remove.

wish me luck!

OK.....but I'm in the same boat. I filed a complaint with the OCR and they said that I have no basis for complaint. So now what?

Thinking about switching gears and putting pressure on the CA since they can not show positive proof that I paid THEM.....
