Okay here is the deal, I am 22 years old, and have had some troubles with my credit. I have not had any credit cards, and i don't have any debt, but there have been some bumps in the road.

I have checked the 3 credit reports, and equifax states i need to mail stuff in, waiting for my report, and transunion says i dont have a file on record.. hmm. However experian does have a record on me, and it has two negative items on it.

The first item is a bill for 400some dollars, from a medical institution. It was for an xray i had when i had a broken nose back when i was 17 turning 18. I had insurance at the time, and for some reason they say that my parents never gave them the information, and have since sent me to collections for it, i was already 18 by the time it was put in i believe. It has been about 5 years though, never got a letter saying i owed money, i called the hospital but they said that since its 5 years old, the records are gone and i have to deal with the CA. what ahassle, i thought i could call in, big mistake.

The other item is from the city paramedics because i was in an accident, and the ambulance and fire dept. came, however i didnt need any of their help, they didnt treat me, rescue me, or anything, they just drove on the scene, made loud noises, and left. The billed me about 100 bucks, and its still there. it has been 4 years i believe.

Now i haven't really been in control of my funds until recently. My parents pretty much paid everything i had to deal with, and i had no idea of what was going on. I was on cloud 9 until i was 20. I had tried to get a credit card and i got denied, then i learned of all the problems i had. Is there any advice you guys have for me? Maybe a way to get out of it, if all else fails i guess im going to have to pony up the cash, but i really hope there is a way around this.

Thanks in advance for the help, this board sounds very interesting :good:

As far as the one when you were 17 at time of service, you are not responsible, your parents are. I would just do a simple dispute on that based on the fact you were not of age.

I'm not sure about the other one but would think that clearly you never signed anything agreeing to pay or ask for them to come it's not your bill either.

The fact that you were denied for credit is probably from insufficient credit, they should have sent you a letter with the explanation. You could start small with a dept store card, make sure they pull from a bureau other than the one your med collections are on. (check whostolemydatabase.com)

Another way to step up your credit, if your parents have good credit you could ask that they put you on one of their longstanding low balance cards. They don't even need to give you the card. As long as they are one that will report user's it will work giving you something. It will even jump back with the history, actually showing a history where you had none before. :)
