Hello Everyone - I'll try and articulate this completly.

1) I had four student loans via DOE from 1998 that were in default.

2) I rehabed the loans via Pioneer sucessfully.

3) I have a new loan via Southwest.

4) I just received a letter that Sallie May will be managing my loan now.

Currently on my EX report; the four DOE loans report as below on my EX Account History (only providing one example.)

==========

Account Name: U S DEPT OF ED/FISL/AT

Account Number: 3200204017808XXXX

As you can see - is shows that the account was refinanced in May 2005, and is closed. There are still a number of CO's for each of the four accounts though. Also, I was reviewing information on the online dispute section and noticed that there is a fifth DOE loan (all five show as potentially negative) as below:

Neiter my Pioneer rehab, nor Southwest loan appear on my current report. So, I have a couple questions.

1) Can I get the CO remarks removed via a goodwill letter? Can you point me in the direction of one that has been succesful?

2) What is the 5th loan, and why does it only show on the dispute option, and not the report?

3) I've been paying Southwest since May, should I expect them to report? IF they report will hit be benificial or adverse to my CR/ FICO?

4) Are there any additional steps I need to take to clean up these 4 previously defaulted loans?

Thanks in advance for all your support.

*bump*

I've read both sides; 1) that the DOE will remove negatives, and 2) that they don't?

Any assistance here is appreciated.

I also read that in many cases the new lender; in this case SouthWest; do not report as long as you stay current; is that accurate?

Thanks,

Bryan

Thanks - When I rehabed with Pioneer, they claimed at the time that all the negs would be removed. Now that I completed that and my new loans are with Southwest/ SM is there anything I can do?

Did you complete the rehab process? If so, then the negs should have been removed. How long has it been since your loans were rehabbed?

Hmmm ... well, if the loan you listed that was showing as a CO is from the CA, then you can have the negative info removed. I've been told that if the negs are on the report of the OC, you may or may not be able to remove them.

If I were you, I would try disputing it at not mine first. That might have the TL deleted. If that doesn't work, then you will probably need to go a few rounds with Pioneer to try to get the CA negative info removed. You might try a letter to the OC as well if that's where the negs show up, but honestly, I'd try disputing first.

Hope that helps.
