Ok I know you cannot say IIB on a student loan, which Ex is. What type of letter should I send? That account is coming back as Verified: Discharged thought BK7/Collection account...

What are your thoughts on this group...?

Thanks

Is that information correct? Was it discharged through BK? What have you tried so far? What do you want from the dispute?

Actually, it was paid in full, by garnishment in May 05. When I did my first rounds of verifying...that account can back as Verified: Discharged thought BK7/Collection account...

I guess what I would like it to show that it was paid, but it would show as a collection account, it would be better that it get’s deleted all together since they are reporting it incorrectly that I feel it should be removed, because you cannot BK a Government Loan. Correct...?

In the future, you might want to give people a chance to get here before bumping your question five or six times; with everything going on, people are very busy right now trying to help Katrina victims.

Now, if it was me, I would dispute the account as "Not Mine." How old is it? How long since it was paid off? The problem is, you may not be able to do anything with it.

As for BKing SLs, there are very limited circumstances in which that can happen. Also, if you have filed for BK in the past and your payments to the lender were suspended, that may be why it is listed as IIB.

I am really sorry that I bumped it so many times, I do understand with everything that is going on. I just had noticed that the question had been viewed several times and other general discussions where getting more replies than I could count... :)

Yes I just did in 4/05, but I thought you could NOT IIB a SL?? I did not IIB for that SL. They ended up garnishing me for it and it was paid off by 5/04 right after I filed..So I am confused. So, Ex is showing my SL account as IIB..So What type of letter should I send? That account is coming back as Verified: Discharged thought BK7/Collection account...

thanks for any help again :)

Then you're going to have to deal with whoever is reporting it that way. I can't really tell you what kind of letter to send (nor can anyone else) because I don't really know what you've done up till now. The only way to get it "fixed" is to deal with the company reporting it as such.

But you need to think long & hard about whether or not you want to mess with it at this point. It's been such a short time, they will be able to verify the correct status of the account. Having it show up as IIB is a heck of a lot better than Paid through garnishment.
