AFNI bit the dust :-)

I sent a nice letter to Mr. John O'Donnell At AFNI. He is the Vice President of Credit and Collections Services and I figured that he would know all the laws and be able to take care of things. I sent him a simple validation letter saying

 

I dispute your claims regarding a Cingular account I had in their entirety and demand validation pursuant to the FDCPA. Please do not contact me by phone but rather ONLY via US Mail at the above address.

 

This is not a request to verify you have my address but a request of validation of the account you collected on.

 

Thank you for your cooperation and a timley response to this request

 

 

I got the green card back a few days ago and today I recieved two letters from AFNI. I'm going to post them in the same order I opened them. Both dated 7/2/05 neither signed

 

Letter #1

 

This letter is to verify that the account listed above has been settled in full. If informationm on this account has been reported to the credit bureaus, Afni will send notification to the credit reporting agencies with instructions to accurately reflect its current status.

 

If you have any questions please contact our office blah blah blah

 

 

NOTE: This is a reciept for payment. However if the payment recieved is later determied to be invalid, collection activites will resume and the balace will again be owed.

 

 

You have the right to inspect your credit. This letter is from a debt collector.

 

That letter shows Balance Due of $0.00

 

the second leter shows a balance due of $144.48 and states

 

This leter is to verify we have file a request with the credit bureaus to delete the account listed above from your credit report

 

If you have any questions please contact our office blah blah blah

 

You have the right to inspect your credit. This letter is from a debt collector.

 

 

 

So you can get a paid collection deleted. I'm a little worried about why one letter says balance 0 and the other says 144.48 but I am not going to contact them. I will file a copy away.

 

Do I now need to request a copy of my reports from the 3 CRA's or will they send an updated copy to me automaticly?

I don't know where he is. I do know the address that is in the return address area of their letters is
