i went to the link to see where my sl's were, and they have no data on them, they were defaulted almost 20 years ago, last year my former employer got a garnishment notice, and kindly laid me off  (wonderful person), i since have found new employ and know they can't touch me for at least a year, but if i don't know who has it, how can i get repayment arrangements. this and the irs are the only things i HAVE to repay and so am working on first, the irs problem is going away on it's own with a bit of effort and i might actually make some money in the process.

any suggestions or just wait till they come grab my check again.

Perhaps others will chime in with more details, but are these federally backed loans? What link did you use? Did you go to http://www.nslds.ed.gov/ to apply for a PIN #? If not, that's your first step. You may run from defaulted student loans, but you'll never get to hide for long. (Been there, done that!) Good luck in finding them, before they find you.
