Anybody know how I can find out WHERE my student loan is? DOE's website directs me to ED Financial when I log in there it shows my account is paid in full and was transferred. NSLD shows DOE as servicer when clearly they are not, somebody is taking my money each month and I'd like to know who the heck it is. I'd also like to contact them about all the tradelines they keep adding to my report, right now my loan is reporting up to 3 times on each report. Makes it appear that I have loans opened when I don't.

I'm confused...you are making payments, how do you not know who they are going to?...or are you getting garnished or something?

I am finding out the hard way right now that transfers of SL's can take forever. I have a loan that's apparently been 'in the process of being transferred' to a new servicer for about 2 months now. Servicer A tells us that it's now with Servicer B and Servicer B tells us it's still with Servicer A...and NSLD has loan servicer, lender, and guarantor info all left completely blank!

When my loan was with DOE and ED Financial I set up automatic payments from my bank account, those payments are being drafted every month like clock work. They also show DOE is the one taking them out, and the most recent TL they added is showing those payments. However I can't see anything regarding my loan, before I could login check my last payment, interest etc. I don't know who is receiving my payments, I don't know when my payment is going to change as it should be going up soon. I just want to know who I need to contact, I would like to get all the TL straightened out. They recently added a new open loan to Experian, without closing the prior entry. It now shows 3 TL for 1 student loan 2 open one closed.

Get your FAFSA pin # and go out to the National Student Loan Database (NSLDS) and log on to see where your loans are.

NEVER

EVER

give a debt collector your banking info to direct debit your payments. Requiring you to do so is illegal on their part.

I think you misunderstand, I gave my information to Direct Loans, and confirmed it with ED Financial when my loan (and ALL my info) was transferred to them. I have been to NSLD and it lists DOE as my servicer in the last field, but they transfered it to someone else. I want to know who that someone else is, I have received no letters no emails or phone calls about it. It is not behind or in default, it's on a graduated plan and has been for a few years. I'm pretty certain it will be going up but I need to make sure that it doesn't default to the original payment amount, I'm currently paying 10% of the normal payment. As well as fix the reporting error.
